Summer/Vicki----I share your sentiments wholehardedly---have thought aboutLimuw thru this whole season of new hatch1.gif Chick3.gif . He will always be held close in the multitudes of hearts.

Also, like you, as our 2008 class continue in their growth and this tough first year ahead---I so hope too they stay- the Channel Islands thru their Juvie years and ultimately choose to stay. Their odds seem so much better than the flight over open water to the mainland. Sometimes, they head out the wrong direction and just fly out to sea the wrong direction. crying.gif

So we all hold good thoughts for these beautiful fledglings!

SoaringEagle.gif I miss Limuw to this day and it still hurts that we lost him. BUT... he lived his life!!! Think about the fledglings that never left the island, or tried to cross the channel and did not make it. Limuw at a young age was made of courage. He is the ultimate representation of why as a country we hold the American Bald Eagle as our symbol. SoaringEagle.gif This is why I have a lot of hope for Skye and Spirit. They all are from the same genetic pool as Limuw and Princess Cruz. K10 and K26 are awesome parents that raised Limuw to be able to survive well. If not of a vehicle... who knows where Limuw could have soared!!

I pray for all our eagles and may they be protected from harm at all times. Xfingers.gif

Karen and Carole, both your words were wonderful, and I too believe Skye and Spirit will beat the odds and become fabulous dads like K10, and be master nest builders. Our Limuw was truly loved by thousands! HartSpin2.gif

Dave & I have been thinking a lot about Limuw lately and decided to visit him in Montello today, the third anniversary of his tragic accident. We found his marker with ease and were surprised to find it in perfect shape. The winds must keep it cleaned.

We planted some wildflower seeds around it and said a prayer for him and all his siblings and cousins that have crossed over the Rainbow Bridge. They may be gone from this earth, but they are never gone from our hearts.

edit: We tried calling Sara to share the experience with her, but she wasn't available, so I left a message on her answering machine and sent her a picture via cell phone.

Jann and Dave, I am so happy you are there to honor our sweet boy. Today, is a hard day for all of us who loved him. I will never forget you and Sara honoring him with the plaque and a proper burial of his remains. This still touches my heart for the past three years, and I will never forget your kindness and love. Thank you. huggie.gif brknhrt.gif rainbow-ani.gif Candle.gif

Jann and Dave, thank you so much for doing this and sharing it with us. I so loved that beautiful boy! I am thrilled to see his grave in such good condition and I love that you planted wild flowers there. Soar free beautiful Limuw. You were loved by so many! HartSpin2.gif The pain is still very fierce at your loss as it is especially painful for me this year at the loss of K07.

Thank you for the update on Limuw's final resting place here on Earth. I rarely get the time to get updates anymore. Seeing Limuw's well cared for grave made me cry. He is a very special eagle. His spirit lives. Keep watch over your siblings sweet Limuw. You are forever missed. My heart still aches.

I, too, am saddened by this news. I have just started viewing the beautiful creatures. I am thankful to the Nathional Conservatory for sharing the link to this wonderful experience. Those who track and care for these creatures are appreciated. Thank you for making it possible for all of desk-bound people to share in your experiences.

Today is the first day that I've visited this thread and learned the full story of Limuw and of his fiercely dedicated human family. I am in awe of all of you, Fireman Michael, Erin and Jann and Sarah, who went the extra mile to protect and honor Limuw. As always, you have chronicled the story so beautifully as the quilt of eagle glimpses continues to be pieced together. Now I better understand the bonds that have connected the earliest eagle cam watchers. (I have been crying now for half an hour, traversing this thread.)

May this season's eaglets fledge to high eagle adventures, to nests of their own and may we continue to follow them with love and awe.

Thank you to all who have come before in creating this remarkable account of these amazing creatures.

Eagle Lynn, having just completed her first year of eagle addiction. Yes, my name is Lynn and I'm proud to be an eagle addict.

Thank you for your kind words, Lynn. It still chokes me up when I think about it, but I can finally watch some of the videos I made of him without crying. I carry my baby Limuw beanie with me wherever I go....graciously given to me by a dear Cruzer friend. Limuw even has a carseat in my car. biggrin.gif

Happy Birthday Sweet Limuw, I will always cherish watching you hatch in a wind storm, and grow to be a beautiful eaglet. I know God is looking over you and you're soaring in the heavens.

It has been 5 years since our beloved Limuw was lost in Nevada and Jann and Sara travelled there to place a marker and wild flowers near where he was found.

On his anniversary Cathy Reznicek received an e-mail containing this photograph of the marker from a Dave Mosses.

user posted image

The e-mail said ... “Today marks the 5th year of Limuw's tragic death on highway 233 near Montello, Nevada. The marker is in good shape and monitored by a local resident.”

We did not know this gentleman, so I wrote to ask him if he was the local resident and how he came to know about Limuw ... so we could share this with you all ...

This is his reply posted in Chat on August 17/12
