Hi,
It’s a late Wednesday update ‘cause I got back from the aerial survey not too long ago. It’s been getting a little harder to track down our birds, they are exploring the island farther and farther away from their nest areas. The Pinnacle chicks aren’t even in the area anymore; today their radio signals were coming from the interior, near the reservoir, and close to Shark Harbor (which is not very far from Two Harbors). Here’s what the East end looked like today. ![]() Here’s what Two Harbors looked like today. ![]() And here’s our lovely West End, cloudier than ever. ![]() On my way to the airport I spotted K-47 (the female from the rattlesnake canyon pair) right before getting to the main gate to the interior, she was being harassed by a Red-tailed hawk whom in turn was harassed by a couple of ravens. She still has a speckled body and not quite a white head yet but it’s nice to have seen her. ![]() On Monday I went to the WE and was able to see 5 out of 6 eagles. I got to see all of the three adults hanging out on the same rock vocalizing away. ![]() Here’s K-74 ![]() Here’s K-72 ![]() And here’s K-72 and K-74 soaring together. ![]() I know K-73 was around somewhere, I just never got a visual on him even though I hiked even closer to the nest this time. I’m going back on Friday so hopefully he’ll make it easier on me this time. I also visited TH and here’s K-78 resting on the ‘feet’ of the pregnant lady. ![]() K-79 was really close too ‘cause her signal was quite strong. And this is K-76, one of the Twin Rocks chicks, flying over Long Point No pictures from Pinnacle ‘cause they were too far away and the Seal Rocks chicks decided to show up after I had put all my stuff away in my pack; by the time I got it all out…they were gone. But trust me, they are all doing well. Pimu’s training continues to improve. I got even closer to her today and she watched intently as I got the fish out of the bag and onto her platform. Tomorrow I made arrangements to go on a boat and explore the northern part of the coast so I’m looking forward to it. I’ll let you know how it went next Wednesday. ‘til then. Steffani |

Logged out, then saw your wonderful Update, Steffani! Thank you for the current news and, as always, fantastic photos. Glad to hear that Pimu is getting friendlier toward you. Before you know it, she'll be calling out your name. Well, not that, but you know~~

Wonderful report and pictures, Steffani! It's so good to know that the class of 2007 is doing so well.
Thanks for all you do for the birds and for us. Thanks too for keeping us up to date on your training with Pimu. What are the current plans for bringing Hyde (the golden eagle) to Catalina? Has a date been set yet? |

Wonderful update and photographs Steff ... it is wonderful to hear ... and see ... how most of the 'Class of 2007' are doing.
When I saw the photograph of the 3 adults at WE on that rock ... which I assume is the one we can see at the bottom left from the nest ... and you state they were all vocalizing ... my immediate thought was they were congratulating each other on a job very well done in raising the triplets. Thank you for all you do .... Good Luck with Pimu's training ... sounds as though she may be getting more comfortable with you. Enjoy your boat trip and exploring the northern part of the coast. |

Awesome photos and a fantastic report Steffani! I think the aerial survey is the way to go - what a whole new perspective! So glad to hear that there is progress (no matter how small) with Pimu!
And the WE clouds - phoooooooey! Maybe we need a "hamster" power generated system - you know, something inside a little wheel - round and round and round since Mr. Sun can't get thru!Thank you thank you...... |

Thank you Steffani for a great update and fabulous photos. Great to see all our babies grown up and becoming independent. Wish we could get rid of those clouds at WE.

Thank you for the great update and photos, Steffani. I think the West End parents were having their own little fledge party! That's such a nice photo. Pimu may end up being your friend, after all, you bring her
. Thanks for the update and take care, be safe out there with all those rocks. |

Steffani your photos are magnificent!
They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:30 I had to run 1-1/2 mi for fitness test with FBI-and after I was diagnosed with MS, this is the scripture that kept me going! Whenever I need something to lift my spirits I will think of that precious image of our beloved Limuw. Thank you so very much |

Cumbrian: The rock is actually on the other side of the ridge, out of the cam’s view. Here’s a picture taken from farther away on the same day. The nest is a few pinnacles to the left. ![]() steff |
