Catalina update, July 18, 2007

Hi everybody,
Another week has passed and all of our eaglets keep on wondering around their nest areas farther and farther away every time.
It has been a pretty hot week, sunny enough to power our WE cam for a little while last Friday.
I was also finally able to get visuals on all Pinnacle Rock eagles.
Here is K-71

K-00 again. (this is when I knew which chick was which, when one finally landed somehwere ‘cause it’s very hard to read their wing tags while they’re flying so far away from where I am at)

And this is K-75, one of the Twin Rocks eaglets, using his parents’ favorite perch.

I visited SR nest last Thursday and WE and TH nests on Monday and they are all doing fine too.
Couldn’t get pictures of them ‘cause they landed away from my view but I got a picture of a family of red-tailed hawks that shares the territory with the WE eagles.

Last week I also began Pimu’s training. For the most part, she doesn’t seem to mind me being in the cage with her so we figured we’d give it a shot. Right now I’m working on encouraging her to eat while I’m in there with her and be comfortable with me getting closer to her perch and feeding platform. It’s a very slow process but I’ll keep you updated.

I know many of you have received your wingblings already and I’m so glad you like them 'cause I enjoyed making them.
