Hey All,

Well, it's been a pretty exciting week out here. As you all know, A-63 surprised us by leaving the nest a few days ahead of 'schedule'. Luckily he's been nice enough to return for quite a few encores, coming back almost every day since he took his first flight.

Jessica and Kim have both been out to check on him over the past few days, and they're happy to report that he's looking good and seems to be taking his newfound freedom slowly. He hasn't venture very far from the nest yet, spending most of his time within just a few hundred yards of the nest tree. Jessica was out yesterday, and managed to get a few seconds of flying and perching video.

We're going to continue monitoring A-63 very closely, so hopefully we'll have new video and/or pictures to post next week.

In other eagle news, A-49 (A.K.A. Cruz) is back here on Santa Cruz. She had been spending the past few weeks on Anacapa with several other eagles, but her most recent GPS data shows here in the Prisoner's harbor area. Maybe she'll stop in to visit her new little brother.

That's about all for now, I'll talk to you all again soon.

Dave

Cool! Now that A-63 has fledged....will his parents chase A-49 out of the nest area if she decides to visit....IF they see her....they didn't seem to keep A-27 out...or did you observe the parents chasing him away finally? Maybe I'd better put this over in Questions....

Geeeezzzz....A-63 even peeps while he flies!!

Thanks for the Update!

Thank you Dave, Jessica & Kim = great to see Limuw in flight! Lots of flapping but he'll get the "gliding" down with more practice! It's wonderful to have him back at the nest off and on so we can see his progress and the interaction with mom/dad!

As always - fantastic!

Thanks Dave, Jessica and Kim .... for the terrific update and the videos.

Our baby boy looks so strong flying ... and to know that big sister Cruz is back on the Island is even better news.

Now if you could get a photograph of them both together sometime ........ biggrin.gif

Beautiful videos! Loved watching A63 flying! Something we can't see from the cam. What a special treat for us! Thank you so much!

And big sis, Cruz, is back in the area! That is too much! Hope you can get some pictures/videos of her too while she's in the area.

Thank you very much for the videos of Limuw. He certainly has a beautiful nest area to explore - no wonder he wanted to get moving! Without your videos I wouldn't have a mental picture of what he actually looks like soaring in the wind.

That's terrific news about Cruz, too. I hope she becomes attached to her home island so that in a few years she'll entice a mate to stay and set up a nest on Santa Cruz.

Dave, Jessica and Kim - Thank you so much for your report and the great videos of our little guy. He sure looks beautiful in flight even though he flaps a lot, soaring will come soon. Considering he fledged earlier than anticipated, he's doing so well. Great news about our Princess Cruz, hope you can get a photo of her while she is back on Santa Cruz. Thanks again for sharing all of this with us.user posted image

A-63 is such a good flyer! What else would one expect with those wings, eh? It's great to see him outside of the nest. Thanks so much.

I'm tempted to take Island Packers over to Prisoner's Harbor this weekend in hopes of seeing Cruz. Since I am going to be out of town I guess I'll just remain tempted. But if you say the smae thing next weekend....

Love the videos! Thank you so much, Dave. And I certainly hope to see Cruz someday on Santa Cruz island in person. I was out there last weekend, but on the other side of the island, Yellow Banks & Alberts.
