Hi, I am June, from Pointe Claire Quebec Canada, which is about 20 miles west of Montreal. I was born and raised about 10 blocks from where I live now. My hubby and I have been married for 35 years and have two grown children, 1 daughter [Kaleefa is her forum name, yes I got her hooked too] and 1 son and 6 wonderful, energetic grandchildren. Still at home are our furry children 10 year old Kita [shepherd/retriever] and 5 year old Yukon [shepherd/husky].

I first heard of the eagle cams through a link someone sent me of the Norfolk Nest and then did a search to find out if there were more. I found the Saanich Nest in Victoria B.C. and from there found my way here. I have been watching since the eggs were laid on the PH/SC nest and am now totally hooked and looking forward to a new season and a new beginning for many more eaglets.

It is a pleasure getting to know the members of this forum and being a part of it.

manuloa

Hello,

We are relative newcomers to Camarillo, on the coastal plain of Ventura County, California. We retired and relocated here two years ago after living and working in Orange County for 26 years. On clear days we can see Santa Cruz Island offshore. This made us feel especially close to the little family we all watched from April until the dreadful end last month. We joined the on-line community to share in the grieving.

Phyllis is "manuloa," because it is she who learned how to use the internet enough to log on and follow events on the website. A Hawai'i-born Pearl Harbor survivor (at age 3,) she retired from a career of helping troubled children at a shelter in Los Alamitos. She now spends her time (when not with the grandchildren) raising fruits and vegetables and flowers in our back yard with the help of Sasha, our rescued German Shepherd who has developed a taste for fresh tomatos.

Jack retired from our specialty remodeling business to pursue more important priorities, like grandchildren, fiddling and writing. We both play for Civil War re-enactments and go to Santa Barbara every Wednesday to play old-time music with friends. Phyllis plays banjo and guitar, and on gigs she clogs and teaches people how to play spoons.

Our three daughters all provided us with grandsons, within the first three years of our retirement. We now have four grandsons, with another due in February!

Hi, my name is Pam, and I live in Raleigh, NC.

My husband, Jesse, and I have been married for 37 years and have three children: Matt (36-Berkeley, CA), Caroline (34- Black Mt., NC) and Kevin (32, So. Lake Tahoe, CA). I have been a stay-at-home mom ever since; and when my mom came to live with us twelve years ago, the care-giving continued.

Jesse is a math teacher at a local community college. We have two dogs (rottweiler and chow—both of whom do not live up to their bad reputations—but they make great guard dogs, anyway) and three cats—for some reason, my neighbors call my home a zoo--?

I especially love the birds and have all my life, thanks to my dad. My favorites are bluebirds, which are absolutely breath-taking to see, and the hummingbirds. We have only one kind of hummer here—but last year and the year before I had a rufous hummer (from the northwest) spend the winter here—snow and ice and all. I have an acquaintance who came and banded each of these, so I have had the experience of really up-close to them.

Then I discovered the eagle cam last spring and have been hooked ever since. I was heartbroken when Limuw died and did not think I could deal with that kind of experience again, but here I am—as enthusiastic and awed as ever. I look forward to adopting a nest this spring—just which nest is the difficult decision.

I love the eagles and their amazing ways.

Hi, I am watching from Ventura, CA.

I work at a middle school in the library and can only watch for brief periods due to work and band width problems. Like the Lemonwood gang I cannot get Photobucket or Youtube posts at work. Would love to be able to show the kids the posts and I am trying to figure out how to turn off the guardian for a brief time. I know it can be done.

I have been lurking since Cruz was a floppy little eaglette. Kept being afraid she would flop off the edge of the nest.

Thank you to all you dedicated watchers. I love to see all your observations.

Hi. people,

My name is Jackie Kolves and I live in Havana Illinios, born in LA, Ca in 1963 and lived in Hunting Beach area when I was young.

I now live in Illinios and I have one son who is 20yrs old. I have been married for almost 21yrs to the same wonderful man.

I love to garden, play in my greenhouse, and just being outside.

I live in central Illinios along the Il river where we have up to 50 northern bald eagles in the winter months, my husband and I have been watching eagles for at least 20yrs, along with going fishing. We live along a national refuge where we have two active nests.

One day I was searching for information on eagles and came across this site since then I've been hooked here... ROFL_sm.gif !! I love it!

We don't have live eagle cams at the refuge so I do get a better view watching on line! Since then I've noticed everyone here is very friendly and very helpfull with any Questions we may have its been great.

My favorite nest of course is the PH nest!! And since the Spirit and Skye ordeal I haven't been getting much done around the house and my yard, wondering daily how they are doing. You have a good team of truley great professionals who really care about the American bald eagle !!

Thank you for welcoming me to your site and making me feel at home here!!
You are all great indiviuals! Keep up the good work! You all are so greatly appreciated!!!

Hi, I am Gail. I was born in Hollywood, CA and raised in the Bay Area, have lived all over the world and now reside in MN. I like it here. I wish I was closer to see the eagles but that is life, thank goodness for the internet and being able to view it now.

I am a stay at home mom so don't work, lol. I raised 2 of my own kids a boy and girl and several others who came and never left. I have 4 pet parrots which I adore and they are not spoiled are they, no.
I have a wonderful husband who unfortunately has heart problems and is not doing so well but we keep plugging along.

I enjoy watching the birds and am not looking forward to their all being gone from nest.
I paint abstract paintings, knit and do crewel embrodery. I like to work with clay also but do not have the facilities to do so. Not much else to say really.

Hi, wavey.gif I'm Marie from Southside, Alabama and I discovered the wonderful world of Eagles when a client of Randall's (my HB) told us of an eagle nest in our community. I was so excited and wanted to know where, what, when how???!!!

This got me to thinking of on-line cams because I had watched a bear cam before. So I typed in eagle nest cam in my search engine and wha-la found PH nest.

This was in April when K-26 and K-10 were sitting on two eggs and I have become a bonafied/sertified eagleholic. Wobble and Bobble-aka Spirit and Skye captured my heart as soon as they popped out of their shell's. What an experience this has been!!

Then I discovered this wonderful forum of all you caring eagleholics and the heroic IWS Crew. I am so honored and thank you so much for all your hard work and letting me be a part of this fascinating eagle experience.

I treasure my wing-blings and hope to contribute more when I can.

My name is Sharon and I live in Yorba Linda, CA with Lexi, my dog, and 3 cats, Maya, Rusty and Jackson Browne. I rescued 9 year old Lexi at the beginning of 2008 and after a couple weeks, she was the boss. She does not leave my side and gives lots of kisses. The cats did tell her she was not allowed on their (my) bed and so far she is listening to them. I have two grown daughters, one lives in Huntington Beach and one moved to the Bay Area (Fremont) in July.

I am a native Californian, born in Glendale and have lived in Orange County over 50 years.
My parents moved to Sedona in 1985 so I visit there a couple times a year. I also travel to Paradise, CA to visit my 103 year old grandma! My passion is gardening. I had 50 roses but have cut back to about 30. Iris and my justicia are other favorites. I also have 7 different hoya plants in pots. Taking care of two big yards keeps me sane as I have worked for attorneys since 1971.

I am an Eagles fan (both winged and guitared), an Angels fan and a winery fan! I love Sonoma, Napa and Paso Robles. Temecula is up and coming but has a ways to go - doesn't stop me from going out there once in a while.

I was introduced to the PH nest when Cruz was a teenager. I got no work done during and after lunch when they banded Limuw and cried all afternoon at work on "that day." I have a great respect for this forum, all the Cruzers, and for Dr. Sharp and his team!

Hi Everyone! I'm Lisa, I live in Redondo Beach, CA with my husband and cat (Katrina) and sailboat (Kaholo, which isn't at the house, of course, but in King Harbor which is also in Redondo Beach).

I'm a research librarian. I love watching all kinds of wildlife, especially marine mammals and birds. I've been visiting the IWS webcams since the first "nest" birth that was in the news.

When visiting Catalina I always watch carefully to try and spot an eagle - last fall 2008 we saw our first one, probably K-81 or K-82, flying over Cherry Cove. Then in early March 2009, again in Cherry Cove, we saw a juvenile, we think it was K-70. Not too many more weekends before it will be summer, and there are way too many people for the eagles to come around the coves then, I think.

The highlight of any travel, for me, is always the animals I may see ....

Hi, I'm Cindy Anderson, and just realized I never did a bio here. I am retired (which was a little earlier than planned but economy made that call for me), divorced, and living in the Willamette Valley of Oregon near the State Capital of Salem. I haver one son who with his wife, have given me two beautiful granddaughters, the eldest of which (5 years old) is picking up her Gramma's love of eagles (and all raptors for that matter)

My Mom has always loved birds, and I guess passed that on to me. I started watching a different eagle cam on the east coast, and went in search of a cam to watch in my own time zone. I ran across IWS, and have never left. The people here are friendly, and knowledgeable, and above all caring for both the eagles and the people who watch. The friendships I have found here are some of the best ever, and have certainly helped me through some tough times.

Kudos to IWS, and to all who keep the forum(s) running smoothly.

Hello,

My name is Pat and I live in the Blue Ridge Mts of VA.

After I retired in 2003, birdwatching and the bird cams became one of my pasttimes. I like all the bird cams, but Two Harbors and West End are my favorite.
