Advanced Member Group: Moderators Posts: 45,596 Member No.: 208 Joined: 4-August 06	STILL VISITING THE OLD NEST! February 2, 2011 K10 arrived at 7:23am with a small stick in his beak. In the 2nd photo, you can see his talons are empty, but there's a hint of a small stick in his beak. He moves around some fluff just to confuse us Then moves a branch to use as a temporary perch before hopping up to the back & leaving at 7:26am K10 returns with fluff at 4:18pm After spending several minutes at the back of the nest, he flies off at 4:26pm Will he be back tomorrow?

It is located in a pine about 1.5 km west of their original nest and over 7.5 km from the new one we recently put the camera on. I wouldn't have even seen the nest if they hadn't started flying and vocalizing. I could not see into the nest bowl, but based upon the adults' behavior, I'm pretty sure they are sitting on eggs.

The nest looks much better than the last two and seems to have plenty of support. As you can probably tell, there will not be a camera on this nest because of its location.

We'll do our best to keep you updated on what is going on, but we will probably only know that chicks have hatched when we see the adults feeding them, and we may not even know how many there are until banding.

K-10 & K-26 have not only abandoned their original nest ... but have also abandoned the nest found at Chinese Harbor too .. where a camera was installed. A camera cannot be installed at their newest nest ... and as they appear to be incubating eggs now ... this thread is now closed. A new thread has been started ... and will be updated with information about the pair/eggs/chicks etc as and when received from the IWS Crew.
