DH is home and after looking at the pictures, has confirmed it is them out there on Blitz..sailing home...almost at Dana Point. He is very pleased I got their picture out there on blue playground.
He is grizzled, tired and a very happy sailor...especially because he said when he awakes in the morning...he is staying on shore ....but I betcha, come Thursday he will out there with his buddies for the weekly Thursday afternoon races. But I bet he crews on another boat, instead of hauling Blitz in and out of the boat yard. |

Glad DH is back home safe and sound Karen
I posted a short slideshow on the previous page of the fishers at Lockport Dam. Sandie, you need to come up here and put your pole in the water where the fishing is easy Jill I got dizzy watching the SB Fiesta in that video |

Thank you Lala for your nice comments
You are a truly artistic person in every way so that is high praise coming from you ![]() This pot turned out rather well this year too.... The vine had lost almost every leaf when it over wintered in the house. I just had it tied up for the striking effect against the fence and then it all leafed out again |

I can only imagine the heat you are tolerating....yikesPenny very pretty flowers....I have to check out the Pelicans too. I clicked on it but did something wrong. Puter is being stupid tonight Karen I bet you are right....DH will be right back at it again. Any info about Andy? OH BOY you don't have to be at the fair tonight to be able to hear the concert. Must be some really loud rock band. I can hear it from where I live and that is not at all usual. I won't comment on the music!!!! Whew I can feel it in the floor |

Lily the Black Bear – UPDATE August 6, 2012
Bushwacking to Bears ![]() Faith - Aug 6, 2012 The Black Bear Field Course information says we may do some bushwacking. We carried that to the max today in cedar swamps that made progress very slow. Cedar logs, puddles, and dense alders gave us a work out, bending and twisting just to make a few feet of progress. The rewards were seeing Lily, Juliet (and cubs), Braveheart, Aster, and Faith. A big day. ![]() Braveheart - Aug 6, 2012 Each bear was a different experience. Juliet’s usual bluster made hearts pound. Braveheart’s and Lily’s calm demeanor won hearts. So did Juliet and her cubs. The most-heard word when visiting Aster and Faith was “beautiful.” Braveheart and Lily showed their common heart rates of 74 and 82 beats per minute. Near Aster’s bed in a cedar swamp were old cattail leaves dragged in from a nearby marsh. Several scats there contained many raspberry seeds (Rubus sp.), a few ants, and the first of the ripening round-leafed dogwood (Cornus rugosa) berry seeds. Sue drove to Grand Rapids (100 miles each way) to retrieve Noliana’s body and radio-collar. Big progress with Ted, Lucky, and Honey. The only one with a trace of runny nose is Ted and the staff reported no coughing with any of the three. The nasal swab from Lucky showed no bacteria. The veterinarian will check them later this week. We’re still waiting for results of the scat and urine tests, but whatever ailment they had seems to have passed, or nearly so. We’ll see if they cough when they get up tomorrow morning. We are trying to catch up on videos. Today we posted one of Jewel and cubs from June 17 on YouTube. Thank you for all you do. —Lynn Rogers and Sue Mansfield, Biologists, Wildlife Research Institute and North American Bear Center |

The plates are glass it almost looks like stained glass....wish I could put a light behind them!!! The centerpiece is made of metal. It is really beautiful. I think Lala should have it! The theme is "It's a Jungle out there". I have been looking everywhere for an authentic Safari menu but am hitting a wall. This is always a struggle for me every year. I do not like this part at all |
