A-11 and A-21 were originally known as the Yellowbanks Pair from Santa Cruz Island.

In 2011 they moved to Anacapa Island to set up their first known nest.

This is the poem that started the Red Hat Society... When I worked in Ojai at a tea room/gift store.. this framed poem was our #1 seller. We also had many teas for the ladies of the Red Hat Society and it was always fun to see what they were wearing... :D

It is supposed to be a very windy day later today. I hate the spring winds here. I have to go for even more tests today. News yesterday was pretty good on some things, not great on others. I got so mad at one of the doctor I told her off. Every time I see her, all she does is prescribe more medications. She also tends to contradict what all the other doctors say and recommend. I know the doctors are as frustrated as I am trying to figure out what is wrong with me, but simply randomly prescribing drugs is not the answer – IMHO. So many of the meds have made things worse or caused unwanted side effects.

Well here's what's been going on:

Fri after layoff - ES called one of his old bosses (they have 2 offices) and met with a friend which seemed to be positive - encouraging
Mon - 8am - old boss called ES to meet him on Tues
then LI office called and texted him to come in this week to talk too
then headhunter called about sending his resume to a place

Tues - met with old boss and it was super positive!
a friend at that office saw ES - called his wife who then called ES and took his resume for her office who is hiring
ES then emailed contacts thru AIA Board and several sent him a bunch of places to consider/apply to

Wed - called old boss for follow up - called LI office for appointment today
contacted a couple of the other companies

Thurs - got call from old boss who offered ES job in NYC
talked with LI office who doesn't want to compete with NYC office BUT has said that should ES decide to not return to City to work, they have a position for him and would still like to talk to him
(all by 8:30 this morning)

SOOOOOOO ES is going to accept the NYC job and should be back to work on Monday! :**: back with a former boss and co-workers! a place he liked and knows and with a few extra $$$ to boot! :ok: We're going to have lunch and discuss it a little further to be sure and then he'll call old boss this afternoon. There is a meeting tomorrow AM and they want to reassign staff to get gary into place! WOO HOO

Sooooo we're still not able to do the CA since it's all been so close in date :( but we are still going to OH for family visit and that's OK with us too.

Thank you all so much for your positive and encouraging posts - it truly did help us thru a very stressful, unexpected event in our life! (((GH))) can't say enough about that Cruzer Mojo - it gets the job done that's for sure!

NOW I can renew our IWS memberships - whew! :<<o>>: (and get my credit hehehe)

Well I booked the boat for Prisoner's Harbor. My thinking was, since it's my first time there, I will get to see the island from the boat on the way to Prisoner's Harbor - and take the hike and learn about the island from the guide. I didn't want to hike alone the first time since there are things there I am completely unfamiliar with - like scorpions! And what is a jumping cactus anyway??

However, going back the next day to Scorpion Anchorage is an option because I liked the idea of the visitor center - and I'm sure the ranch buildings would make great sketching subjects.

A visit to Ojai Raptor Center would be nice, too! :D

Two new chicks at White Rock nest in B.C.
#1 hatched April 19th and #2 hatched April 21st.
They are named Echo and Foxy :^: :^:

Jeanne, there is always a guided hike on Scorpion, either an IPCo naturalist, or an NPS volunteer. So, if you don't make it this time, you will enjoy it another time.

I'd be happy to go to Scorpion and share all I love about the Island anytime.

Tonight is the last class for this GIS class I have been taking!!! I am soooo happy about that! Then I am on a break for 4 weeks :**:

I see people on the news and read stories of people that lost their jobs and people like you and Gary who "made lemonade out of lemons" which reminds all of us that one must remain calm under pressure in order to win. Each day I am thankful for my job, home, and friends(humans and animals) and stories with happy endings like you and Gary...Hurray :Hugs:

Deb these are a few :clk: 's of a seal pup who was on the beach on Balboa Island last year on May 25th. DH took lots of :clk: 's of it :D





It followed the camera guy around everywhere. The animal rescue was called because it appeared it was having some issues although there didn't seem to be any visible injuries. Don't know what happened to it :unsure:

I hope the little one you saw last night will be ok :X:

Peetie - glad you are doing better. Physical therapy seems to be helping my shoulder - I actually have a little more range, a little less pain. Hopefully I can get back to normal!! :X:

Cat - I hate when doctors get pill happy like that - they seem to have a designer drug for every little thing! Ugh! Listen to your body and trust your instinct and find a doctor who doesn't write you off like that - grrr! :angry:

Still raining here in Studio City...weather is supposed to move to the East by noon :X: It's always a blast taking my daily four legged charges to the park in wet conditions...messy at best :umbr: :rn:
