From yesterday....

Some of this years "Whistling Ducks" are getting very comfortable on site. They fly in and get something to eat - then they take a siesta. :P

For those who didn't see, I posted late last night that Cat's husband had left me a voicemail saying that she did not get to come home yesterday. :'( He didn't go into detail, but there must have been some kind of setback. I will try to call him later today and see how she is doing.

Sunday we set a record with 81F/27C and this morning it is :flk: :flk: . Crazy weather!

Sad news from Colorado nest. :'( One of the chicks didn't make it, it moved to a far part of the nest and couldn't get back to adult. It probably died of hypothermia as it is cold there now and a bit of snow. Other 2 chicks are being brooded right now. RIP little eaglet :candle: :^^^:

Carole such a shame about the Colorado :^: After such a struggle to hatch and then to have that happen :'(

Is that the nest at Vian? The one at Sooner Lake nest had three eggs, one hatched, second hatched and a couple days later disappeared and the third egg wasn't viable. So there is one eaglet left. TH lost a :^: too and then there was the Richmond nest where the two :^: :^: were attacked and killed by the rogue eagle and the one Cindy and Bear watched where the wind damaged the nests and the ^"^ ^"^ disappeared :o It's harsh in nature :'(

I also love to see the eggs all in a row...when the Dad's incubate they leave them in a row and when the Mom's do they are all in a cluster. I'm thinking this is because the females have a much larger brood patch than the Dad's do :D

Karen, sorry your team lost, a very dear friend is a KU alumni so she's right there with you, another friend is a UK alumni and has been in New Orleans this week. It was on her bucket list to attend a championship game and she just retired last month and is thrilled she crossed that one off.

Well, back to it...crazy weather here too - 10 degrees above normal then 10 degrees below normal :wacko: But the blazing heat will be here before you know it.

Anybody know how a grey squirrel could lose all the hair along the entire length of its tail? :o I was so shocked when I saw it this morning digging for nuts under my tree and then it ran across to my neighbors. Without the hair on its tail it does look like a giant rat. I'm wondering if it got caught in something :unsure:

I'll have to try to get a :clk: of it :X: the hair can grow back soon.
