Description: It's The Weekend
harpo516 - March 24, 2012 12:25 PM (GMT)
Hello Everyone
I am alive and well ..... :)
Just been CRAZY crazy at home and work......
I thought I had the work "routine" sorted out but not quite yet ....
It's busy but good busy and still learning (and here I thought my brain was full)
And today we have to run into the City to pick up some things for our troop's upcoming trip to Camden (eek) but we're going to the Aquarium and then spend the night on the USS NJ :)
I have a new great niece this week - it's a part of my family that I don't know well (looooooong story) but we are now keeping in touch and I wish Megan and her new daughter Emma all the best (she's a cutie indeed) and that now makes my brother a new grandpa LOL
My mother has been moved to a care facility - to the alzheimers area and so far she's doing good (way better than anyone had anticipated) I spoke to her on the phone Sunday and she was pretty good at that moment. My brother and I are hoping this is her last move - each change is very hard for her to adjust to :( I should be going there in late May/June so I'll get to see her new "home" then but I am hearing great updates so :X:
Like I said a lot this week - and ES has a cold :(
We've had some wonderful weather but of course being at work I can only enjoy it from afar (and I have)
Anyway off we go - I'll check back (our dear friend is celebrating #60 and his 2 sons are having a surprise party tonight hehehehehe)
hugs to all
be well
hope everyone is super good
I owe lots of birthdays, etc. - I know .....

Our Casitas eagle pair are still just enjoying their freedom.. male is still working on the nest with constant fly-ins with branches... but 'she' is not ready....
The two badly injured golden eagles at ORC.. have both recovered enough to be transferred into an outside aviary.. where they can at least be in the air and walk around with each other .. will check in today to see if there is any flying going on. The one that was shot, still has a make-shift splint on the wing.. so I know she's not flying.
Carole, thanks again for eagle report each morning.. makes my <3 sing... :ok:

Good news about the golden eagles being moved to an outdoor aviary.
Loved your happy spring photos today and so happy your <3 :ddd: over all the beautiful eaglets.
<::: Now I need an opinion. I snagged these pics of a cam/chat page and it looks like Lake of the Ozarks may have 3 :^: :^: :^: .
I know it is a very deep bowl so perhaps it's possible the tiniest one couldn't stretch up enough to be seen. What do you think?
marshaz - March 24, 2012 07:33 PM (GMT)
CAROLE, IS THAT WHITISH THING RIGHT BELOW OR NEXT TO THE BEAK THE BABY OR PART OF THE EGG SHELL OR SOMETHING ELSE?
lakemaryeaglewatcher - March 24, 2012 08:11 PM (GMT)
A very quick Hello. Spent the past week on the phone for hours and hours with Medicare and Social Security including hours at the local office. I was disenrolled for my Part D. The long and short I actually have a credit because they put Wes' payment on my account but they can't figure out why the computer bumped me as they show I made ever payment. Of course. :bam: :bam: Have to wait for the next billing to see if it's resolved. :8O:
Have the little boys this weekend so have to get back to them. :)
Have a wonderful weekend all.

Hi Peeps,
Happy Saturday!
I need your help. I have an area in the front of my house that is very drab and plain. This year I would like to try to beautify the area, but I am stumped. Here is a photo of the area.

Its the front of my townhouse, and that big window is a kitchen window.
When I bought the place there was a big white homemade wood trellis type thing in front of the window with a vine growing flower on it. It wasn't attractive. Tree litter and webs accumulated on it, and it blocked a lot of the light into my kitchen. I took it down before they painted last summer. Since painting I have put up new outdoor lights and new house #'s. Old ones used to be brass (not the look I am going for). I am kind of trying to go for a craftsman look. My favorite kind of gardens are ones that have mixtures of flowers, succulents and grasses. Its not a very big area and I'm just not sure what to do with it? Should I buy a black iron trellis for decoration? Right now all it has are the rocks you see and a garden hose. I was told the former owners put the rocks in in order to keep neighbor cats from urinating in the planting bed. Should I leave some of the rocks in the planting bed for variation?
Help!
EarthMuffin - March 24, 2012 09:23 PM (GMT)
My tulip magnolia tree is starting to bloom! And so are all my tulips and daffys!!! Will share a :clk: soon!
SoCal Lady - March 24, 2012 09:38 PM (GMT)
PRALINE--- What is the year round climate there in your part of Oregon? What is the sun exposure. You have a nice empty canvas there...my suggestion would be...if you have a good garden center nearby...take this photo to them and they could give you several ideas. Be sure to mention the cat problem...which can be very frustrating and destructive.
EarthMuffin - March 24, 2012 09:50 PM (GMT)
Karen, our year round climate is cold and below freezing in the winter, beautiful warm, wet spring, hot and dry in the summer, and then around halloween rainy season starts and lasts until april or may.
The front of my house faces west because the sun sets on that side of my house. (I am directionally challenged.)
I am in Zone 7, the Pacific Northwest.
That is very good advice. I will take pic to local garden center.
silveregal - March 24, 2012 10:08 PM (GMT)
SoCal Lady - March 24, 2012 10:27 PM (GMT)
PRALINE]---WHEN YOU TAKE PHOTO TO GARDEN CENTER, HAVE YOUR MEASUREMENTS OF THE SPACE AND WHETHER OR NOT THAT SPACE HAS GOOD DRAINAGE...LOOKS LIKE THE BED SLANTS TOWARDS THE DRIVEWAY, WHICH WOULD BE GOOD DRAINAGE.. AND OF COURSE TELL THEM THAT THE BED FACES WEST. GOOD SOIL PREP/AMENDMENT VERY IMPORTANT TOO FOR A NEW BED TO BE PLANTED AND TO THRIVE.
IT WILL BE A NICE "WELCOME HOME" EACH DAY AND ENJOYMENT FROM YOUR KITCHEN, WHEN YOU ADD SOME LOW SHRUBS AND COLOR. HAVE FUN WITH IT. :ok:
