Good morning!
Thought I'd let you know that I'm Ok, but that my horse is very ill. He has Strangles (google translate), caused by Streptococcus equi. I'm spending my days with him, giving him his meds and trying my best to get him to eat. He's very sore. And has a high fever. Needless to say I'm very worried. I had the vet come in twice this week and he also got a cough medicine (ventipulmin), so I'm hoping for the best. He really has to improve over the weekend. Coming Monday I'll discuss with the vet about what to do next.
Please keep your fingers crossed for my poor little big guy!
Hope you're all doing OK. I'm lurking here every once in a while, but I'm glad to know what day it is, because I'm devoting all my time in nursing my guy up to health.
For the first time this week I'm home in the afternoon and I'll try to get some rest now as I'm so so so very tired! :(
Wishing you all a nice weekend!

The bald eagle won yesterday - YAY - but it's NO time for complacency! We have another raptor competing today that is up against a tough opponent and needs our support - GO SNOWY OWL!

SAN DIEGO STATE is playing N.C. STATE today as well.....S.D.ST will have their hands full with N.C.ST...we are pulling for San Diego St. along with Chiquita and Marsha.
ojailala - March 16, 2012 03:06 PM (GMT)

I know this is not the shot of the year.. but I really do think it was a third eagle yesterday... It was huge, and I thought it was a vulture at first, but when I got home and looked again, I think it is an eagle... Ian and others that may be familiar with wing shapes.. I would like your best guess... both the BE were in the tree at the time I took this picture..
SoCal Lady - March 16, 2012 03:10 PM (GMT)
SIMONE--We will all be sending Cruzer Mojo for the meds to help your horse recover. I am certain your horse feels all the love and TLC you are giving him too. :Hugs:

Penny we are expecting 70 degree temps Sunday through Wednesday next week - by Wednesday possibly 75. How crazy is that for March in an area that normally would only see 40s in March.
Oh yeah but I brought all of my shoes home from my office yesterday. Usually when I do that we get a huge snowstorm. . .  Now my question is should I get my flip flops out?? Or should I wait. . .

An 18 year old went missing in my sisters town on Saturday/Sunday morning. The search so far has mostly been a ground search. Searchers found a couple of his personal effects but no leads to his whereabouts. He just simply disappeared. Today - searchers are searching the river. . . .
Please send up a quick prayers today for Colin and his family. My best friend is a cousin. . . :candle: :candle:

tiffany and lily left this morning. we had a great time together & i hope i can visit them in fairbanks this year.
i am at work today. it was quite an effort to get showered and dressed. wrist hurts but i think i will make it to 5.
last night my gis class started. on top of only having one hand, i had a migraine but had to participate. the professor & students talking put my migraine over the edge & i lost my cookies, talk about adding insult to injury. minute class ended i went to bed for few hours. woke up feeling better.
next week we should start seeing :hatch: :hatch: :><:
i am feeling a bit conflicted about permitting the tribe to kill 2 eagles as part of a ceremony. they were doing this long before whites came on the scene. it was the white man's ddt that decimated the eagle population. eagle populations are recovering. i know that they would take the eagle's lives with the utmost of respect and reverance. but i love eagles, and don't want any to die or be killed.
when i get home i will vote for snowy owl
EarthMuffin - March 16, 2012 06:47 PM (GMT)
karen i saw you posted your recipe for the stuffed chicken breasts. looks very :v8v: . i will print that out and add to my recipes to try. thanks for posting!

Unfortunately there always 'bad apples' in every group and from the experiences in BC with members of certain tribes just going around shooting :<<o>>: :<<o>>: to sell their feathers, I would rather not see the flood gates opened in this way :'( Once a tribe receives permission, the door is opened for every other one to ask for the same, so where do you draw the line?
