LAURIE---Your opening is so cute....real smile maker. :D

Cloudy and cool here this morning, but all and all a peaceful ease into the day.

Just as I was tying on my apron to begin making the recipe I had clipped from the newspaper for Stuffed Chicken Breasts...we decided instead to go out for dinner. We went to an Italain Restaurante here in Laguna--Romeo Cucina--the menu is scrumptuous, so many interesting things to choose from.

So tonight I will make the recipe I wanted to try last night.

LALA- I am sure last evening, your whole Roasted Chicken with Rosemary made you feel a little better, at least for comfort food. I had a miserable cold just like yours, 2 weeks ago and then DH caught it from me. We went through many cubed boxes of Kleenex too!

Off and on rain showers here so far this morning. high 40s. Rain is ok. It's making the snow go faster and oh boy oh boy the lake is slowly starting to open up. You know what that means. . . CAMP!! :><: :><: Maybe in a couple of weeks if this warm weather continues. . . :X: :X:

Good morning all!

A good ending to a story I did not want to initially share - about one of the ducks. One day, about two months ago, I looked out to see all the ducks having "din din". I spotted one that seemed to have trouble walking. :( .....and instead of walking over to the food, he would fly.) Then, when he got to the food, he flopped down and ate almost laying down - but with a big appetite! Healthy looking, good appetite, but a bad leg.

I could not get close to do anything so I watched. He came with his group each day. Soon, I was having trouble spotting him. He would land and find his food spot, and sit down on his "elbows". (Not completely down on the ground) Then, I would spot him standing with his one leg pointing to the back. However, he could bring it down to walk on it! It seems to be getting better and better!! :X: Don't know what happened to him, but he looks like nature (and healing) is taking it's course.

Here are a couple of closeups I took the other day of a pair just hanging out. :D

Good morning, all.

DH had to go to the eye doctor and we just got home. Eyes are fine, just a regular check up for him.

Going to be a beautiful spring-like day here today. I may try to get out this afternoon. Right now I need a rest after all the moving around this morning.

Good morning,

Woke up this morning to about an inch of wet melting snow. couldn't get pic because it was dark.

did something to my left wrist. not sure what i did. slept on it wrong? lily has been tugging and pulling my hands and arms a lot lately, maybe its dislocated? anyway, can't move my left hand at all without excruciating pain! i have on a brace i wear when my carpal tunnel acts up. its kind of helping by keeping it straight, but still hurts a great deal. i'm pecking at the keyboard, when i usually type very fast. going to leave w*@k at 3 today get an xray and see dr. :<::

marti hope the duck continues to improve.

i'm not going to post much today.

We are hitting some record temps for this time of the year here...high of 11C/51F and we'll be in the mid 60's by Friday :**: My backyard is a lake on one side

I heard on the news that over 200 US cities have temps approx 30 degrees higher than normal too, so it feels like Spring all over the place :)^

Weather Forecaster

To tell the weather, go to your back door and look for the dog.

If the dog is at the door and he is wet, it's probably raining.

But if the dog is standing there really soaking wet, it is probably raining really hard.

If the dog's fur looks like it's been rubbed the wrong way, it's probably windy.

If the dog has snow on his back, it's probably snowing.

Of course, to be able to tell the weather like this, you have to leave the dog outside all the time, especially if you expect bad weather.

Sincerely, The CAT

A little follow-up on George's post yesterday regarding the 100th anniversary of the Girl Scouts. In today's San Diego Union Tribune, above the fold on the first page is a picture of a 96 yr. old lady, Jean Tharp, in her original GS uniform with her darling red haired great granddaughter wearing her uniform. Badges were sewn on the sleeve in 1920 when Tharp was a GS.

Carole Thought about your pond critters Sunday when I was at the zoo. Watched the spoonbill, scarlet ibis, egret and sand hill cranes, not to mention my all time favorite tropical bird...flamingo! Would much rather have been watching them in FL near the ocean than AZ in the desert!

..and it was HOT...mid-80's!

Crazy weather, Jillers, the dog forecaster didn't cover that one! user posted image

Casitas Boy this afternoon... female was flying around too, but did not land in nest trees... the male was in the nest when I arrived.. then left to soar for about half an hour.. I followed most of it with binnoculars.. then female joined him for awhile.. he returned to nest trees and she took off, didn't see where...

My Mom had another eye injection this morning.. a two hour office visit this time.. mostly just waiting... When they called her name, another woman popped up... who knew there were two Lucille Millers in the world???? The waiting room all got a kick out of that.. and my Mom and the other Lucille shook hands... you had to have been there... :D

regarding the eagle images , as tony the tiger would say, "They're GRrrrEAT!" :clk: :<<>>:

ojailala - March 13, 2012 11:19 PM (GMT)
George, I have a new tripod coming my way... one that is not on the 'hot' list of favorites, but one that another photographer has and is quite easy and light, .3 oz. It seems all my tripods were given to me by people that bought them at garage sales, or that I bought myself at garage sales.. all quite heavy and bulky.. none that are comfortable to use. I am determined to get comfortable with tripod and a quick release of camera when they take off...

jeannec - March 13, 2012 11:55 PM (GMT)
HELLLLOOOO CRUZERS!!!! :}^

Lala :)^ love the eagle pictures - so nice to have one flying nearby - they're such majestic creatures! And speaking of tripods that is next on my list - have no clue of what to get. I had a tripod with a watercolor easel - it was nice and light and easy to use, but when i put my Guerrilla box on it (an oil painting easel/box) it was too much for it. So I need something sturdy enough to handle that, too.

Carole I hope you do have eggs in your pond! :X:

Praline, ouch! I do hope it heals quickly. Did you do anything to your elbow maybe?? I did something to my shoulder two months ago and it has not healed. No gym, no hiking - UGH! Doc says it's an impingement but I think it needs more than pills and exercises...

LeicaEagle - March 13, 2012 11:56 PM (GMT)
the super light pods are good for most shoots. however, when using a heavy long lens such as the sigma 150-500mm , one gets what they pay for. just hte legs for my manfrotto pod cost me over $200 and the ball head was another 150 but the gimbal head i use for raptor shots was another 200.00 if memory serves me. The carbon fiber legs are lighter and more durable when carrying it but with the gimbal head the sucker is very heavy and hard to lug around even with the tripod strap attached over my shoulder. I had to review the specs of several to see that it could support my long lens as well as my 3 medium format bodies. But it does the trick and works well :clk:

catM - March 13, 2012 11:57 PM (GMT)
Carole, eggciting news about the :egg: Can't wait to see the baby!

Lala, that is amazing - two women at a doctor's officce with the same name! I once ran into my namesake in the ladies room at a restaurant in Chicago. It also turned out we had the same birthday! (Not year, but day and month.)

catM - March 14, 2012 12:00 AM (GMT)
We had a nice visit with our neighbor. She is going to visit her daughter back east on Friday, so I won't see her for a month.

Going to eat. Have a great evening, all.

ojailala - March 14, 2012 12:04 AM (GMT)
Mine is called 'Digital Concepts'.. and I can't suggest anyone get one until I try it out... but another photographer has one and it seems better than all of mine put together... The test will be if it holds my 500 steady and that it is not 'top heavy'....also the quick release... also will be using remote release for shots... It was under $50.00 and two other models really lower than that...I have found that the heavy tripods just don't get used (except for my moon in the yard)... taking them with you must be fun and easy or they will get left behind.

ojailala - March 14, 2012 12:11 AM (GMT)
George, my other tripods were all expensive but just sit here... they are awkward at best. I should have gone to our local 'Samy's Camera' and had my friend there sell me what I need. But seeing is believing.... and I like the one I saw. I remember a couple of years ago, dragging one of the tripods to the edge of Glacier Point in Yosemite, to take sunset pics of 'Half Dome'... I was exhausted!!!.. and then I had to wrestle with the dang thing... Jeanne, take your time with the tripod....get lots of advice... I did use the mono-pod today.. worked OK... :P
