Jeanne that news about the barred owls is horrible :'(

The barred owl (pictured, left) could be targeted by the U.S. government to help save the northern spotted owl (at right).

'The Seattle Audubon Society was among the groups that consulted with the Fish and Wildlife Service before it made its proposal. On Wednesday, Shawn Cantrell, the Seattle society's executive director said "we need to figure out what is the level of challenge that the barred owl poses, and what are the appropriate actions we might take concurrent with other things, such as restoring the habitat of the northern spotted owls,"

He said he wouldn't be in favor of a larger removal program, at least not until an experiment answered those questions. He also said he believes loss of the northern spotted owls' habitat through logging is a bigger reason the species isn't faring well.

Both the experiment and the wider program would require separate public review processes. The service is accepting public comment on the experiment plan for 90 days, and a decision is expected later this year.

If the experiment happens, it could start next year and last for three to 10 years, the service says.' :8O:

Where is the link for the public comments I wonder?

Good morning all!

I am keeping up with the postings but not enough time to do much else.

Deb - you're missed!!!

Carol - Go get 'em! You can't invite someone to show for a set amount of time and then say "Uh, sorry, need the space" (cause they probably screwed up somewhere else and that person is more vocal). Incompetent is the word that comes to mind. Is there a higher up in the organization you could write to after this is all over? (keep notes)

I just ran into an article posted here about our flock of Whooping Craines. The weather is really changing things around this winter.

Good Morning Cruzers.

If you look at the weather map it looks like we are getting clobbered with snow. So where is it all?? We had a slight dusting over night thats it. Yes it's snowing a little bit out but it's not as bad as it looks on the dopplar. Yes we are still under a Winter Storm Warning until 1:00am. So - no snow day for me, here I am at my desk. . . So March comes in like a lion, and should go out like a lamb. . :D

Nice news about K10 and K26 :)^ :)^

So gotta get to work.

That's horrible about the owls. I'd like to know where the comment forum is as well.. . .

Artsy Mom - March 1, 2012 02:24 PM (GMT)
Very distressing to read that article about how mild winters and drought can severely impact migrating birds Marti :8O:

Good morning Peeps,

Only 3 days until DS and my niece arrive for a visit!!!

Well, our snow didn't materialize either Laurie. I woke up this morning expecting lots of white stuff, and there was only a dusting. Then about 15 minutes later it started snowing heavily. Now its sunny and partly cloudy.

I hope all those feeling under the weather are starting to feel better.

Peetie, prayers for the prince.

Hope everyone has a great day.

This is a great commercial!

Here's a link to a Shell commercial shown in Europe .
Ostensibly, they're selling gasoline, but the cars used
in the video steal the show.

Ferrari pulled several of their race cars from various
ages out of storage, flew them around the world, and
filmed them running through the streets of Rome , Rio ,
New York, Hong Kong, Honolulu and Monaco . No
computer graphics - these are the original cars on the
original streets.

The best part is the sound - from the basso-profundo
notes of the early, front-engine era, each scene cuts
to a later generation, ending with the wail of a modern
F1 car.

There's just something about 3 liters and 14,000 RPM

Just caught up on yesterday's chat...

Karen, love seeing your RT hawk and your commentary!

Jeanne, I like that poem Home by Earl Hamner...makes me want to go home and get cozy!

Sandie, sorry about the test. :( Was it the test itself, or the method of taking it that isn't working for you? Was the test for your philosophy class?

Carol, good for you for setting those idiots straight. They really need to get their act together and treat the artists with respect.

Elaine, love the guide dog billboards with Petey!

Oh, also, it isn't my son that is coming to visit me. I don't have any kids. Its my youngest sister (maybe I shouldn't use the DS abbreviation), and her daughter, Lily, my 4 year old niece.

CAROLE, WHAT CRISP AND CLEAR SHOTS OF THE MOURNING DOVE. LOVELY. OHHH, IS THAT A PALM TREE? DIDN'T KNOW THERE WERE PALM TREES IN TORONTO.

It's a sad situation. This is the town I was born and grew up in Used to be a
bustling little town Now quite depressed. So they came up with this "Business
Improvement Group" Consists of only 3 or 4 people.
I DIDNOT expect to have any whole shows anymore just participate in group
shows. Getting difficult to mat, frame and wire all my own pieces beside doing
art work. When I was asked I thought I should do it for "my" town. I wasn't the
only one who had problems for their lack of organization and the apparent lack
of them communication to each other.. It's obvious they don't check it out with
the others when one makes a decision. So one called me to extend my stay
in the Kaffe till April9th. I took another piece in, came home and the other person
called me that she was so sorry but she wanted to put someone else there and Oh!
they would have me back. ALL THAT WORK! That's when I told her she had to
put on her "listening ears" and told her I was going by the call from Darren
and staying.

Sandie - So sorry your test! Especially after all the hard work!

Carole - Thank you for the Colorado site! :Hugs: Doves are so calm!

Jeannec - read about those owls. Nature would take care of it. :X: Hooray!!!!
for the PH pair and Dr. Sharpe!!!!!!!! Love the Lion and lamb graphic!

catM - Hope you are feeling better!!!! :X:

Petra - So very very sad about prince Friso and sad for his family! :Hugs:

Penny - Hope they rethink what to do about the spotted owl! :X:

Eagle Watcher - The heirloon shirt sounds so lovely. I once had a lovely
embroidered blouse from my great aunt from Holland. My daughter
"borrowed" it in her high school days and it got LOST.

EarthMuffin - have a FUN time with your sister and your niece!!!!!!

Jill - Hope it's a smooth day for you!

Our rain has stopped for the moment so will run to the store!

adklaurie - March 1, 2012 07:05 PM (GMT)
Well my work place is sending us home at 3:00 today. I'm not sure why. The snow is pretty much melting before it even hits the ground and the roads are fine. But ok - I guess I'll take the early leave time, I'm thinking maybe I'll bake some Brownies when I get home. :Yum: :Yum:

Carole - I had a Mourning Dove at my feeder yesterday when I got home, haven't seen them all winter. It sat on top of my birdfeeder pole for the longest time. So pretty. :)^ :)^ :)^

Carol - so sorry for all the confusion with regards to your art show. Seems like the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing. Hope the issues are resolved soon.

Peetie - so sorry for your prince. :X: :X: :Hugs: :Hugs:

Well back to the grind stone. :D :D

Laurie maybe the powers to be know more than they are saying. Go home and enjoy the brownies. Well, after you make them.

Carol good for you speaking up about your art. It is a lot of work but it sure would be wise to communicate with each other. Sheesh

Our health class has us doing a pregnancy planning project!!! Heaven help me if I need to do anything like that!!

Praline I usually struggle with tests to begin with. It was the fill in the blank part that I was the least effective on. But I know my score was not the lowest. Should that make me feel better??? NOT!!!
  Yes it was the philosophy class. I have to have a final grade of at least a C. There goes my 4.0 GPA. :<::

Last night was funny in our Ceramics class. Everyone was supposed to bring something to eat. Finger type stuff. I brought deviled eggs. So finally most of the class was gathered around the table of goodies and one student said "so who brought the deviled eggs, no never mind it had to be Sandie, she's the only one that brings anything made by hand!!!" Everything else was chips with store dip and packaged nuts and cookies.

Karen would moving the table a little further from the rail and the recycling part of the tail be an option? You lucky lucky girl getting them (or it) to visit on a regular basis.
