Hello everybody,

We’ve had an interesting week fixing up cameras and surveying for eagles all around the island.

Last week, I had a chance to go look for the Twin Rock adults. Their territory is quite large so unfortunately, I didn’t find them from the spot I was surveying from.

Pete and I headed out to the West End last week to make some final adjustments to the WE cameras (that’s right, there are two now!) and I know everybody has been enjoying the close up view of the busy pair as they prepare and get their home ready for the breeding season. We added an extra solar panel to help with the power issues

Some people have been seeing eagles on the south side of the island around Salta Verde so I have gone exploring a couple of days looking for these eagles as it could be a sign that someone may be establishing a territory over there which would be fantastic because it’s such a beautiful, rich area. This was day one; exploring inland and canyons.

As I was hiking back to my truck I noticed I was not alone out there…




The drive back during the sunset was really beautiful. It’s probably one of the best work commutes in the world!






I’m going to save the my pictures from day two in Salta Verde, Pete will post them next week ;)

Last week, I also had a chance to go fishing for a few hours and caught just a few bass. The next morning, I gave Pimu the biggest fish ever! She was so cute trying to tackle the heavy monster but she did a very good job eating about 70% of her meal!

I checked on the Rattlesnake nest the other day but there were no eagle visits while I was watching. It’s good to know that our new camera and microphone work perfectly. It sure makes it easier to monitor this nest with the aid of the nest cam.


I am off to vacation for a couple of weeks so Pete will be posting the updates for the time being. I’m really looking forward to an excellent bald eagle breeding season. I know it will be a great one!
