As you know All Eagles All The Time 2010/2011 is an Archival/History in Videos and Still captures showing the various stages throughout the year in the lives of the Eagles on the West End Nest on Catalina Island.
We have followed them through the Nestorations and then onto the Eggs/Incubation stage and now we have finally reached the most exciting stage the Hatching of the Chicks and their Early Development...... so this is where we will put the Chicks and their Development stages ... because that leads us into eaglets and fledglings.
As you know all these Videos/Stills and Captures .. have been selected .. as their favourites ... by the members who have captured them on Nest Watch.

Again we ask you not to post comments in this thread Viewing Only Please. This will enable faster viewing by Dr. Peter Sharpe and the IWS Team ... for record purposes ... and also for Members and visitors to the forum.
Capturers are asked to wait until Cumbrian or EDblue (Eagle Duo) posts the first thread of each day before posting or reserving a space for your captures of the day to keep continuity to the archives.

HAPPY HATCHDAY! April 04,2011 11:32am - Wray jumped up. Eaglet possibly hatching?--maybe this was a shell-piece?
It seems the egg may have hatched around noon...The hatchling shows itself:

5:11pm - Wray exits
5:39pm - K-01 departs after enjoying a big meal

4:04pm - Wray reveals her brood as she prepares to exit
4:05pm - K-01 communed with and fed the eaglets
But Wray arrived and forthwith broke up the party so K-01 left - 4:13-15pm
5:18pm - K-01 replaces exiting Wray; 7:03pm - Wray makes her evening return to the nest and K-01 departs

1:05 and 1:07pm - Wray arrived with the usual fanfare; K-01 departing
1:42pm - A quick replacement--Wray took off to the rear and K-01 came onto the nest from the front
1:58-59pm - Wray arriving with a branch that engendered a flurry of nest-work

There was a very close call at the West End nest this morning. As Wray flew off, she had one of the chicks stuck in her talon. :(

2:22-29pm - Wray wanted to get in on this feeding, but K-01 kept most of the work to himself
2:39pm - K-01 making an exit
3:18pm- Wray demonstrated her intentions to leave the nest
3:22-23pm - So she did; but the three eaglets were alone only briefly--she returned post-haste

The chicks get lots of great feedings today and there was very little bopping :P
Wray arrives home with a stick which lands on the chicks. K01 retrieves it and puts it where it belongs.
K01 -- Super Dad.. feeds & broods the chicks where they end up .. Wray, not so much. She broods an empty bowl. rofl
Chicks are scattered everywhere but Wray feeds the youngest a meal by iteself.

3:30pm. K-01 delivers the first Garibaldi. ................. Mom starts a feeding.
2nd Garibaldi arrives........................................... Dad eats.

3:10pm - Parent arrives with something that tempts the eaglets
Wray exits when K-01 arrives -3:29pm
4:07pm - Littlest eaglet explored its boundaries before rejoining the group
4:42pm - Wray announcing her arrival with the usual fanfare
5:52-58pm - Wray called out for relief--K-01 came by, but it's unclear which one exited;
the remaining eagle hosted a private feeding for the little one while others slept
