Title: The Name Game
Description: Let's find a name for A49
Eagle D - July 22, 2006 01:16 AM (GMT)
This is it everone, it's time to name the Eaglet soon to be known as "you know...A49".
The majority of the names where all suggested by you at various times over the last month or so...a couple I through in for old times sake. ;)
We'll know the name by popular consent at 7:59 on Sunday so we'll be able to toast "???????" properly.
Nice to have him home...take a minute, think it about it, let it be a reflection of himself...look at him and let your heart be your guide.
Otherwise, enjoy...and as always thanks and you're welcome.

I just thought of something. What if we find out A49 is a female? It can happen. :o If we find out he is a she, maybe we can have another poll...later. I know I would change my vote.

How about nameing our boy Jim?
kljinusa - July 22, 2006 02:40 AM (GMT)
Unregistered Guest,..JIM??? But seriously, your ideas will be considered, but only if you are a member. Please join us with your thought and comments.
I vote for Cruz, for Santa Cruz. Doesn't matter if male or female. Male, named Cruz, female, Santa Cruz, nicknamed Cruz. It just works.
copperwyrd - July 22, 2006 02:57 AM (GMT)
Eagle D...thanks for organizing this. I'm torn...will think about it over night. BIG decision...don't want to be rash. Maybe, like Patti, he will come in my dreams and point the way to a proper name.
kljinusa - July 22, 2006 03:22 AM (GMT)
copperwryd, what are your name thoughts? I'm curious as I am committed to my name of Cruz.
margiew - July 22, 2006 03:24 AM (GMT)
I like "Cruz" for Santa Cruz. Male or female, no matter. I hate to admit it but it took me a while to figure out why you were calling our eaglet "Cruz" , it really fits. Duh!
Thanks for setting this poll up.
Margie
ElaineRuth - July 22, 2006 03:25 AM (GMT)
Well, I'm still pulling for "Cruzer" because that's what the Staff says he's been doing.
Madison99 - July 22, 2006 04:14 AM (GMT)
I absolutely agree with Elaine Ruth. Cheers to your great name of Cruzer. Come on everyone, pick Cruzer. Let's hear it for Cruzer. How about Cruzer?
Just a little cheerleading for my name choice...Sis Boom Bah!!!
kljinusa - July 22, 2006 04:20 AM (GMT)
I prefer Cruz officially , but I Would certainly consider the affectionate nickname of Cruzer. You guys gotta vote. Funny, Eagle D has made the Vote very democratic and fair. You can't vote twice....like I tried to do. LOL.
peppermint - July 22, 2006 04:41 AM (GMT)
I am torn. I'll have to think about it and sleep on it too....perhaps two nights. Guess I only have until 8pm Sunday to decide?
Hulabird - July 22, 2006 06:12 AM (GMT)
I'm torn between 49er and Cruzer. Cruzer is the actual given name of the kid who mows my lawn. I thought it was his nickname but he said no, that he was named after his grandfaither.

Great Choice of Names Darrell! Kermie? Where did that come from?
As always, Love it!!
Eagle D - July 22, 2006 07:12 AM (GMT)
Kermie was a name suggested by one of the members a while back. I actually searched out as many name suggestions and got what I believe to be the majority of them included, plus a few extra. ;)
Bea - July 22, 2006 07:16 AM (GMT)
That's so cool!
The things you have to do to keep us entertained!
Eagle D - July 22, 2006 07:18 AM (GMT)
Believe me Bea, it's nothing I have to do...it's all been my pleasure. B)
Bea - July 22, 2006 07:26 AM (GMT)
Thanks a bunch Darrell!!!!
Good night for now.
Patti - July 22, 2006 02:40 PM (GMT)
Darrell, I've had a name for our boy, one that I picked some time ago because it seemed to suit either gender & is regal.
I've been calling our guy "Cumbrian" in homage to his devoted human, Pat--Cumbrian. I was too shy to ever mention it. It's out of the bag now. I wish I had mentioned this to you because I would have voted for that if we had it posted. I've already voted...boo hoo! Is it too late to add CUMBRIAN?
Think about it. I messed up by being too shy.

and gone HEY stick around a bit
Eagle D - July 22, 2006 05:58 PM (GMT)
Good Morning
Patti - If I had only known, I could have included it...
Might be searching A/C Today...supposed to get to about 110 today...already 100 and it's barely 11:00...ugh!!!
copperwyrd - July 22, 2006 06:00 PM (GMT)
kjlinusa: still like cruz and cuzer. It is so location specific, easy to say, and sounds hip, like our boy. I like Patti's name of Cumbrian....the Cumbrians certainly deserve it, and it sounds elegant. Have to think about this one more hour...then commit! Pat is interesting...especially since there are sooooo many Pat's and Patti's! But I would be afraid he would get in to the chocolate....and we all know that caffine is lethal to animals. Can't do that!
copperwyrd - July 22, 2006 06:04 PM (GMT)
Ok Ok Ok Eagle D. I committed. It's in fate's hands! Thanks for doing all this!
Patti - July 22, 2006 06:32 PM (GMT)
I understand, Darrell. It's my fault for being shy about it. You must be miserable with that temp! I hope you find some relief. Claremont is a nice city though...I'm thinking positive.
Those colleges are something else!
Eagle D - July 22, 2006 07:09 PM (GMT)
Yeah...the area is nice, except for days like today 12:00 up to 103 now and climbing...to quote from the Wizard of Oz...'I'm melting'...definitely looking forward to fall and winter. ;)
Now 1:00 and it's up to 107 and my Yahoo IM just died...not a good thing...gonna seek out a cooler place...talk to you all later.

ojailala - July 22, 2006 11:14 PM (GMT)
Don't mean to rain on Kljinusa's parade.. but I came up with "Cruz" on July 1st..after my other choice was taken by another eagle... it's on the discussion board history if you want to check it out...
cynthy - July 23, 2006 12:35 AM (GMT)
hello....I have been watching and reading from day one ....... Ojailala did come up with the name Cruz on July 1st.....I really do think that watching 49 was a wonderful wild ride.
P.S. Hi
Eagle D - July 23, 2006 12:45 AM (GMT)
Voting looks good...still trying to cool down...about 30 minutes ago it was 113 outside...starting to get some clouds and hoping for rain...yahoo messenger still down and I don't know why...what a bummer.
I'll be back again a little later...

LBtheScot - July 23, 2006 01:13 AM (GMT)
I voted for the little guy.
We had actually named him Egbert the Eaglet weeks ago, but we will go with whatever name wins the poll.
Patti - July 23, 2006 01:19 AM (GMT)
Darrell, I would be dying in your temp right now. Whew!!!!
kljinusa - July 23, 2006 01:33 AM (GMT)
Ojailala, I'm sorry if my post was interpreted to mean I thought the name up myself. I certainly didn't, I saw it on the discussion board and started using it myself as it was just the perfect name. I certainly don't want to claim credit for other people's ideas. Just setting the record straight.
peppermint - July 23, 2006 01:47 AM (GMT)
Darrell,
I had no idea it got that hot there...my son considered going to Claremont College at one time to play football...right now he's realllllllly glad he's not there. It's still 75 here and has been overcast most of the afternoon. I know that sounds cool compared to where you are but it's unusual for us and verrrry humid.
FYI...my yahoo messenger has been down ALL afternoon...what's with that???
Bea - July 23, 2006 02:20 AM (GMT)
Hi kljinusa
RE: Credit for the name "Cruz"
Read everybody's posts today including yours, and I never got the impression that you were claimimg credit for it.
Ojailala: Thanks for the name. I adopted it after reading it on this discussion board (apparently in one of your posts).
Eagle D - July 23, 2006 04:45 AM (GMT)
Hey, I'm finally back...it's 9:40 and it's finally cooled off to a nice crisp 94...yeah...today was a cooker...it looks like Cruz is going to be the name we, as a group, have chosen...I remember it being mentioned awhile back as being the idea of a couple of people...what can you say...great minds and all...I finally got my yahoo back up and running...don't know what the problem was, just know it was a problem. Thanks again for everyone who has participated in choosing a name for our favorite Eaglet, allthough it wasn't my personal choice, I'm happy with the decision we've made together. Tomorrow night @ 8:00 we'll have our final toast and officially adorn him with his or her (we still don't officially know) name. I'm looking forward to it...
Darrell

Patti - I am dying, but then again you think about it, aren't we all??? ;)
ojailala - July 23, 2006 11:15 PM (GMT)
As much as I love the name Cruz... I love Patti's idea about honoring Cumbrian.
They were a tremendous couple that made the whole discussion group come alive with their photos...after seeing the photos we would be able to comment on the eagle/meal/insect of the moment. Thanks to the two of you.

Don't know if we're revisiting this topic but if we are, I nominate
"Cruzetta" for the sassy little biddy.

Well Elaine, you just revisited the topic. ;)
Seriously, when we ran the original poll we did all that we could to come up with a name that was "Gender Neutral" ...I think we are all still happy that the name we have chosen is the name we will stick with.
