Title: Seal Rocks Eagle's Nest 2008
Description: Egg ... cellent Adventures!
Eagle Duo - February 28, 2008 03:11 AM (GMT)
As you know All Eagles All The Time 2007/2008 is an Archival/History in Videos and Still captures showing the various stages throughout the year in the lives of the Eagles on the Seal Rocks Nest on Catalina Island.
Dr Sharpe and Steff continued to work on the web cameras both on Catalina Island and the mainland, and in January 2008 they finished setting up the tower at the Seal Rocks Nest, and they confirmed that several new sticks, and some dry grass, were on the nest, so both K-25 and K-34 had definitely been working on their nest during the ‘off season’.
The camera came on in February... in time for us to witness some bonding between these beautiful eagles ... and on February 27th, 2008, K-34 laid their first egg.
So here we are ... onto the next important stage ... Eggs and Incubation.
The Videos and Stills posted here on this thread .. have been selected .. as their favourites ... by the members who have captured them on Nest Watch.
You can see more videos, and still pictures, by visiting the Daily Observations thread. Also known as Nest Watch
Again we ask you not to post comments in this thread. VIEWING ONLY PLEASE! This will enable faster viewing by Dr. Peter Sharpe and the IWS Team ... for record purposes .... and also for members and visitors to the forum.
We do however welcome comments, about any of the eagles, or the different stages, in the Daily Nest Watch or Chat threads.
Capturers are asked to wait until Cumbrian or EDblue (Eagle Duo) posts the first thread of each day before oosting or reserving a space for your videos and/or captures of the day to keep continuity to the archives.

NEW PARENTS ON THE NEST! ! February 28, 2008
SR <3 <3 6:47

SR a little preening - a little fluff clearing -
looks like egg roll 7:11 - and parent wiggling in for incubation - tucks some of that fluff in around the "bowl"

SR both eagles in house - I did not see dad's arrival but maybe food delivery - looks like mom mantling to the left 7:47

SR dad checking out egg - mom takes off to the left apparently done with breakfast - dad seeing if there are leftovers!

SR mom quietly looking out over the landscape - not on egg at present - can you see the egg hidden in the fluff? 9:35

(and you can see the really white egg now that she "wiped" off the fluff that was on it before)

NEW PARENTS ON THE NEST! February 28, 2008

K-25 incubating

K-34 arrives .. but may have already been on the nest hidden at the far left .. 8:49am

K-25 leaves at 8:51am............................................K-34 watches, then ducks as she sees him returning

K-25 returns at 8:52am
Off the egg doing nestorations rather than incubating!.....K-25 places a stick on K-34's back ... but quickly removed it!

K-34 decides to do more moving of sticks!

Some stills from the video "Seal Rocks -- Hey! It was *my* turn to fly!" ...
K-25 arrives, K-34 gets up off the egg, then K-25 flies away after moving a few sticks ....
K-34 gives a look, like "Hey!!, It was *my* turn to fly!!", and resumes incubating ...

Some stills from the video "Seal Rocks -- K-34 Calling!" ...
K-34 interrupts her incubation of the egg to get up and call out loudly several times
(to an unseen intruder? or just because she's such a talkative eagle?), then resumes incubating:

K-25 bugs K-34 who is trying to incubate the egg ... by doing more nestorations around her.

See the fluff and stick on her back?

K-25 brings K-34 an orange ><'>

She mantles it .. then eats it .. and then she leaves!

K25 came in from the left immediately. He must have been perched nearby and she had been "talking" to him all along.
