Luis Jose Diego-LUIS • RANCH HAND • DIEGO LUNABASIC INFO;Name: Luis Jose Diego Age: 20 Date of Birth: December 7 Occupation : Drifter / possible Townfolk APPEARANCE; Eyes: Brown Hair: Dark Brown Body type: Lean Height: 5 ft 10 in Weight: 165 lbs Luis is half Mexican and half English. His skin tone is tanned but much lighter than most Mexicans because of his blonde mother. He is built strong and solid but not muscular. Generally he wears tan colored clothing to help from overheating. He always wears a black hat nearly the color of his hair and rides a black horse named Fiesta. PERSONALITY; Luis is a quiet, soft spoken man who is suspicious of the motives of others, especially new people. Many times he has been called derogatory names because of his Mexican heritage. He generally avoids people who are like that. Although he puts on a strong facade he is in reality very tender hearted and easy hurt. Still he is kind and seldom imbibes. Raised in the Roman Catholic he does his best to practice his faith without pushing his beliefs on others. HISTORY; Jose Diego worked for Celia Harte for many years helping her and her husband take care of the Harte Ranch which was situated outside San Antonio, Texas. They raised Spanish Jennet Horses. When their son was two years old Mr. Harte died in a tragic accident. Celia sought comfort in the arms of her Mexican caretaker and Luis was the result of that liaison. For years Luis helped his father work the ranch never knowing he was the half brother and half heir to the ranch. His white mother started a trust fund for her half-breed son in the hopes that he would one day buy a place of his own and settle down.At the age of seventeen his 1/2 brother, Tom Harte, told Luis about how they were related but he would never get any part of the ranch. Angry that he was never told this and was made to feel less important than his half sibling because he was half Mexican he argued with his father and left with what little savings he had earned over the years never knowing about his monetary heritage. For several years he worked on several cattle drives traveling up and down the country, worked ranches for poor pay and tried his hand at the rodeo circuit until finally getting his fill. Contacting his father he found out that his mother had died and left a phenomenal sum of money for him. All Luis needed to do was find a town with a bank so the money could be transferred to him. The closest large settlement was a town called Buffalo Creek Bay. MARIANNE/ANSKEE • OLD • 7 YEARS RPING He looked at the envelope turning it over and over again in his hand studying it closely as though it was something foreign. Somehow his father had found him. Sheriff Carlton had probably helped him. The Sheriff was an old friend of the family. The original postmark was for Houston but then it traveled to Denver, Dodge City and finally it made its way to him here. Where exactly here was he wasn't quite sure. He'd been traveling with the rodeo circuit for nearly a year now and many times was unsure of his settings. He was pretty sure they were back in Colorado. The envelope was worn and wrinkled. Someone somewhere folded it in half and then in half again. Obviously it had traveled long distances and been traded hand to hand. How many had wanted to look inside and discover its contents, read its message. A corner was torn and there was what looked like a muddy stain on the back. At least he hoped it was a muddy stain. There was no telling for certain where it had been dropped and what it had been dropped onto. Ignoring the stains Luis ripped it open and immediately recognized his Father's handwriting. Nearly a year had gone by since pen had been taken to paper. My Dearest Luis,I do hope this letter reaches you soon. I have sad news. Your mother has died. The doctor said it was pneumonia. Before she left us she gave me all the bank papers she had concerning you. She has saved much money for you, Luis. It broke her heart when she found out what Tom had done to you. Luis. I want more than anything to get this money to you as soon as possible. If at all possible find the nearest good sized town with a bank and I will transfer it to you. What you choose to do with it after that is your decision. Let me know soon as I long to hear from you and know that you are safe and well. Your Loving Father Informing his boss that he was leaving right away he inquired where the nearest town with a good sized bank was located. His boss told him Buffalo Creek Bay. After getting his pay that's where he headed. Buffalo Creek Bay would become his home. At least for now.It took him two days but he finally made it to Buffalo Creek Bay. Several of the buildings were constructed from rip sawed lumber giving them a rough, bedraggled look contrasting the center of town which were well build with several of them covered with paint or white washed. Some people stared at him from the boardwalk as he passed by. He barely noticed as his concentration was on locating the bank. At intersecting roads he found it on a corner, a red brick building that rose up like a grand Victorian lady from the dirt.Dismounting he dusted off the road dirt after tying his horse off at the hitching post and gave him a gentle pat. “When I get through I'll make sure you're taken care of real nice, Fiesta,” he promised his horse with a small grin on his face. Entering the bank he was struck by the beauty of the room. Deep oak paneling covered the walls. Tall windows let in the light as well as the air. Pale gray marble covered the floor which contrasted with the dark marble of the teller windows. Luckily there were only a few people inside.A few minutes later, his business concluded, his exited the bank and true to his word he took Fiesta to the livery stable where he paid for him to get watered and fed, curry combed and a private stall to himself. He was going to stay at the finest hotel tonight and he saw fit that his horse had the equivalent.BREE @ CAUTION 2.0
