Abilities:

Personality: Love and peace is what this man strives for and it doesn't matter the length he has to go to in order to obtain it, he'll do what it takes and more. This unfaltering determination is rarely understood by others because he has a strong playful mask on all the time in order to keep those around him happiest. Vash believes everyone has a 'blank ticket' to the future so hey can make whatever they want of themselves and he tries his hardest to make sure every foe he faces knows that. In the depths of his heart he believes there is hope for every man and woman on the planet.

Despite all of that hope and light-heartedness Vash somehow still has a dark corner in his heart. Due to what happened to Rem he still feels horrid resentment towards his brother, sometimes going so far as to swear revenge. (This is a manga specific characteristic)

Over all though, Vash is just a fiercely protective person. He will care for people he has never met and willingly puts his life on the line for them even if they don't ask him for it. Sometimes he will brood on the dark things in the world he can't stop from happening but he always manages to pull himself out of it so he can continue to do good in the world.

History: Oh man this is spoilerific up in here. Like all these spoilers right off the bat.

Vash was born on a ship in outer space known as Project Seeds with only his twin brother Knives and a woman named Rem Saverem. In the course of a year Vash and Knives had both matured in astounding ways and could completely take care of themselves- already appearing as preteens in such a short time. After a while Knives did something terrible and programmed all the ships to crash except the plant ship so they could land on planet Gunsmoke and live there together prosperously. Knives viewed humans as inferior since he and Vash were sentient 'Plants' which were amazing beings that could create energy and seemed to live outside of the constrictions of time. Rem quickly stowed Knives and Vash away on an escape pod while she tried to correct Knives' terrible plan and though she succeeded in saving the other ships full of slumbering people she was killed.
