"Prodigious!"
The young man had been tinkering with his laptop and a few desktops for what seemed like days, locked away in the confines of his room-- a makeshift lab. Buzzing desktops and humming monitors was like a symphony in that room, and Izzy was the grand conductor. Hah hah. Conductor. That was a nerdy pun.
"Well now that I've got all that done I might as well take a bit of a breather," he said to himself with a big stretch in his seat. After a long four hour programming session he was almost positive he had finished the task he set to, but he couldn't test it out just yet. "I should probably check in with Tentomon," He mumbled with a thoughtful inflection.
"I've analyzed everything after all!" Izzy announce proudly. There was a vast amount of pride he could attain from his technological experiments and this was just one of those times. It would also bring him and his friends closer to their digital friends so there was always that to look forward to. "Now just to wait a nanogear for everyone to get here and..." He continued to muse to himself, oblivious of his surroundings.
"Tentomon to Izzymon," The digimon's voice suddenly buzzed over his laptop's speakers. "Are you there?"
"Hm?" Izzy perked up, looking towards his laptop, "Tentomon I was just about to contact you. I believe I've finished my portal. Let me link you to the program so you can see your yourself." The child began typing and quickly provided his digimon with the programming side of what he had been working on.
"Hmmm that's what I wanted to talk to you about Izzy. I'm worried it might be too dangerous to tamper with a connection like that don't you think? What if it doesn't connect right or you get stranded somewhere?" HIs worried voice wavered and popped through the speakers.
It was just like Tentomon to be like that, Izzy thought with a slight frown. They were both very intelligent, but Tentomon seemed to be more of a skeptic than Izzy. The little digimon had often spoken against Izzy's plans out of worry, trying to make sure that nothing bad happened to him. It was endearing to know he had such a loyal friend, but there were always going to be certain things that Izzy would have to do with or without the approval of his digimon. "I know you don't really like it Tentomon but this is really important to me. To all of us."
There was an unsteady beat as Izzy tried to find the right way to express himself. It felt clumsy trying to explain such things to data, but the digimon were always so much more than just a collection of ones and zeroes to the digidestined. "You know if it works we can visit you whenever we want. Maybe we'd even figure out if you guys could visit us too. Wouldn't that be prodigious?"
For a moment the laptop just hummed quietly and on the screen Tentomon's expression seemed one of sorrow. It was sometimes hard to tell with him considering. "You know I didn't mean I wouldn't like it right? I just don't want anything bad to happen to you just because you want to see us. You've done so much for us and the digital world already so maybe just this once..."
Izzy let out a long sigh. He felt terrible for making Tentomon worry, but there was just something urging him to continue his work. He couldn't stand the thought of never seeing Tentomon face to face again and he knew the rest of the digidestined felt the same way. As if he were a computer his mind began to run the scenarios in hopes of finding one that wouldn't upset his friends or Tentomon. "Try not to worry too much. I'll make sure we test it before any of us use it. Okay?"
Tentomon seemed about to reply when the door suddenly burst open and a notorious spiky haired boy charged in. "Yaaaahooooooo! Is it ready yet!?"
It only took a quick glance for Izzy to be astounded by his friend's usual casual behavior. Even though it was winter outside Tai was dressed for summer, probably thinking it was just going to be a relaxing day on the beach in the digi-world. It was like Tai didn't even understand there was testing to be done before diving right in. "Technically yes, the basics are all done but Tai-"
"SWEET. I'm so excited to see Agumon again!" Tai shouted, interrupting and not caring in the slightest about it. Izzy could just see the way Tai's gaze looked past all of the important technological aspects of such a portal and went straight to the end result.
Could he just let him jump in like that without the proper testing? Tentomon wouldn't like it but holding back a guy like Tai could have been more work than it was worth.
That was just the beginning of where things went peculiarly and horrifically wrong.
