Stuck

Kanek was stuck in the Infirmary, and he was not very happy about it. There were many reasons to his happiness, and a few could come to mind easily.

A) He was around people. He hated being around large groups of people.

B) Kanesk could only spend the night in the Infirmary, as too much light came in. So he only had his companion at night.

C) He was in pain. Even with fellis and numbweed, pain would creep back once it started to wear off.

And the ever present, that he couldn't leave. That he was stuck in here at least for a little while longer.

But he should have expected them to come, shouldn't he? The people from Lost Weyr, they would come.
But they hadn't come just for him. They'd come also to get at others. He was lucky not to be dead. That knife had been going for his throat... But it had gotten his shoulder pretty good. His arm was wrapped, slathered in numbweed, and put in a sling for good measure so that he did not move it.

To escape questions, he had feigned sleep a lot of his stay in the Infirmary so far, except for when Damara was in there. He'd talk to her. He liked talking to her.
And no one could get him to talk otherwise really... Though he had been found to swear heavily when his arm was jarred.

Right now he was in the Infirmary, with a lull of visitors. Kanesk was sleeping soundly down in the caverns below. So he was feigning sleep once more, eyes shut against the outside world.

F'lion was angry. Very angry. It was an unusual sight to see the normally congenial Weyrleader stomping down the halls.
Enough was enough. He had now heard of Kanek's involvement with Lost Weyr, Damara wasn't around, and he was at the liberty of being able to chew out Kanek. Never mind that there were people around, this was ridiculous!
Mine, aren't you being a little too angry? asked the Bronze uneasily. It seemed that roles were reversed, if F'lion was the one upset and Demimnoth was being nice.

He crashed into the infirmary and ignored inquiring looks as he moved like a velociraptor hunting its prey to Kanek's side.
He stood there a moment, just looking angry. His face was red, and the slight stubble from him growing a beard just to annoy Leilani made him look even more manic.
"YOU BASTARD!" he roared at the poor, mangled, pained Lord Wherhandler. "YOU worked with them! YOU brought them hear!"
He kicked at the edge of bed-cot thing Kanek was lying on, and only managed to stub his toe through his boot. It only inflamed F'lion even more.

"You're lucky I don't handle wher affairs, and can't override whatever decision Damara has made about you being around," he hissed. "Leilani for some reason is ignoring your treason, and is working on 'other more important things.' HA! I think the lives of those who were hurt or KILLED ar important enough, but she is working on some affari with Rose Heights, so I guess she's good for something..."
His anger had died down. It's F'lion, he can't sustain a rage forever. But he was still resentful and mean.
"What do you have to say for yourself, Kanek?"

Kanek had heard someone crashing through the Infirmary and, having his eyes closed, wondered who in the world could be crashing through so noisily when people were trying to sleep and recover from their injuries and illnesses.
But the noise of the crashing was coming too near him.... and too in his direction. He didn't open his eyes for the moment, however. He hoped whoever it was would think he was sleeping and simply leave him alone. That's what many people had done.
Unfortunatley this was not the case, and Kanek became aware of that as soon as he heard the voice of the Weyrleader shouting at him and calling him a bastard. Which Kanek did not appreciate at all.

Kanek's eyes opened to look up at the Weyrleader, who looked as much in a rage as he had sounded with Kanek's eyes closed.
And he shouted.
And Kanek let him shout.
Kanek was in too much pain and was too overwhelmed by everything that had recently happened to try and interrupt the Weyrleader. And he had to admit he had expected this would be coming because he had known someone was going to be angry.
He was amused, however, when the Weyrleader stubbed his toe, but was not happy with the fact that it jarred the bed, and thus his arm. But for once he managed to keep his tongue, knowing it would do him no good to swear and have the Weyrleader overhear at this moment.

And the Weyrleader's rage calmed, and Kanek sighed, figuring he had best explain everything. Being stubborn would not help him here. Especially because upsetting the Weyrleader might get him kicked out of the Weyr. Which Kanek really did not want to have happen. Damara might get upset with him and if she ever turned against him, he would have no one on his side. He hadn't seen Kikan since...

"In case you have not noticed, Weyrleader F'lion, there are other people here trying to heal who don't deserve to be roused by your shouting," Kanek said. Leave it to him to say something like that to the Weyrleader.
"I, however, understand why you are yelling at me. I accept the fact, because, quite frankly, I knew it was coming. I expected it much sooner."

Then the story came:
"I did not intend to bring them to you all in the drove that came. I did not expect for them to come and kill all of those that they did end up killing," he said to start.
"And yes, I did work for them, I used to, keyword being used. They don't want me anymore, as its quite obvious. I am considered a traitor by both Blue Orchid and Lost Weyr, and people from both sides want to kill me. I don't doubt this will be the only attempt on my life. There will probably be more. They will want to execute me.
I was a very antisocial person when I came here. I don't say I am much better now. I was resentful of being sent here, as it was big and I would have preferred someplace smaller. I signed up with Lost Weyr out of ignorance, out of resentment for a situation I could not change. And they asked me to kill. Naturally, with my position so close to her, it was Damara they asked me to kill. And I couldn't kill her. I don't think I could have killed anyone. But it took me that to realize it.
And so I told Damara everything. And now they know and you know. And no doubt wherever I go I will be followed by them. I'm glad Damara wants me to stay, even if I cannot understand why she wants me to stay here. I care about her. And I am sorry for the losses, but there is nothing I can do to change what happened. Unless you want me to turn myself over to them," he finished.

And he sighed. "And to think, Damara thought going to you and Leilani would be a help," he said with a bit of sarcasm.
