These are the Blue Orchid mutations, in order from the rarest to least rare. More *could* be added.

Essences- Essences are akin to 'elemental' dragons for Pern. They are able to manipulate, produce, and shape their element in any way. Less skillful dragons breathe their element instead of fire, more skilled ones may do this as well as produce it from thin air without any more than a thought. Once they have it, they may make it grow larger or smaller, twist and turn, appear and dissappear. Essences can be any color of dragon, but are distinctly marked for a ring around their neck and tail which signifies their element. Sometimes they may even have streaks on their wings of their element colour. For example, a Light Essence may have a pale yellow ring around his or her neck and a matching one on their tail. Essences may come as any color- not that they may be shaded any color, but any dragon color has the possibility of an Essences mutation. In other terms, a Leaf may be hatched with blue Essence rings. It would be labeled Leaf Water Essence Ikkith. This mutation is incredibly rare; even for a mutation. However, this is a mutation which doesn't just apply to dragons, but whers as well. It seems to be more common in whers -say, only as rare as a Pineapple or Pomegranate being in a clutch- and in a way has made the whers more valuable.

Abilites- One of several mutations found among the dragons, the Abilites are found extremely rarely among Blue Orchid's population. Rarer than a Queen Dragon, an Ability is simply that: along the lines of a dragon's talent for Telepathy and betwe'ening occasional dragons are hatched with the 'ability' to do something more. These range from simple things like being to sense the emotions and thoughts of riders and general people who are not their own -which is rather overwhelming for a young dragon- to the ability to Heal. Dragons with Abilities are highly prized in the Weyr for the fact that they can add greatly to the scope of activities. Other examples include dragons who can control people's actions, dragons who on a lesser scale can INFLUENCE people's actions, and dragons who are in a sense, lesser Essences with slight abilities in regards to nature. Needless to say, their talents are promoted and a dragon who shows any signs of having an Ability to do anything more than a standard dragon is immediately trained.
After all, a dragonet with an unnoticed Ability could create a LOT of havoc in a weyr.

Chameleon- Only found in dragons, Chameleons are interesting to say the least. When hatched, they blend in with their background. As they grow up, however, Chameleons can also adopt the hide colorations of other dragons, mimicking status and rank. They also come with their own coloration which is found only on that particular chameleon. However, they cannot change size, and are ranked for their size. To add a twist, Chameleons can be any size, from smaller than a Daisy to larger than an Azalea. Unfortunately, Chameleons never clutch. Since this mutation was found, it has been argued that they should be made a dragon color, but since they have no true rank or personality, that idea was quickly squashed.

Two-tones- Absolutely the most common mutation, it appears in ever type of rank-colored creature; dragon, Yandorei, fire lizards, and whers. It's about as uncommon as a Bark being in the clutch, so not as common as a Leaf or Daffodil. Two-tones are recognizable by being half of one color, and half of another. The two different hide colorations may swirl together, or be completely seperate. There have been records of Two-Tones who when looked at on one side, look like one dragon colour, but from the other, seem to be something else. Two-tones are ranked as the 'avarage' pf their two colors; for example, an Azalea-Daisy would rank around a Dew, while a Daffodil-Daisy would rank around a Sunshine or Moonshine. The gender of a Two-tone is not decided on by the colors it has: a Sunshine-Chicory could be female, likewise, a Rose-Leaf could be male. Because of this, color doesn't affect clutching, so any Two-tone that ranks over a Chicory generally -but not always- clutches. Also, any that is part Daisy will clutch no matter what, despite their rank.
