When I ordered my Mahachais...I received some extra fish from Gilbert... I have a spawn in the tank from a pair of the intense blues he sent me. Decent sized spawn, 2 1/2 weeks at the moment eating BBS and vinegar eels twice a day. Buying a camera tomorrow if I have time, will post some pics.

Hopefully able to post pics tomorrow if I can get my darned camera issues figured out. Some of the babies in this spawn are pretty big (looking like about 30 or 40 babies as of this morning). I siphoned the tank today and did a 60-70% water change, I tried to count the babies but most of them were in the java moss hiding. I've got about 5 of them that are pretty small and the rest are decent sized. I'm fairly stoked as they are my only spawn of Halfmoons and most of my fish are PKs. Keeping my fingers crossed for some show fish for next spring.

I'm sure you'll do fine with them, there alot hardier than people give them credit for. :D

Ha Ha! If it LOOKS like there's 30-40, there's probably 60-80! Betta fry have a way of hiding...

CONGRATS! Looking forward to the pics...

Geez, I better start a savings account for jars if that's the case! I have three spawns in the tank right now. Newest spawn is the biggest I have had yet! 100+ would be an gross understatement on the super red PK spawn!

At what age to males start to spar? I thought I noticed a couple of babies fighting each today? Are they too young?

Some of the larger babies are definately starting to pick on each other and the smaller babies. I pulled one really pesky little guy out of the tank and jarred him today, he's a holy terror. I got a few pics, will post tomorrow if I get to the library. I've got little hints of blue on the larger babies, I'm excited!

Also, I work in food service and realized I can probably order deli containers from one of our suppliers!
