Given the name of Heath Durham by adoptive family (see history below)Aliases:
Privateer/ Sailor / MusicianCurrent Location:
"Twilight Shark"Character PB:
Maksim MrvicaGeneral appearance:
Wild with a half-civilized ferocity at times, Jack has a swarthy, brooding countenance and eyes full of black fire. But it's subdued and his manner even dignified. He lacks roughness but is too stern for grace. His unruly hair is prematurely going grey in streaks here and there. Visible skin surface is un-scarred but his back has several lash marks. He is a moderate man in height and slightly shorter than average. With a wiry build that's borne of athletic, hard work. His face has character and intensity rather than being remarked as handsome.Clothing:
When on duty, he's in old short slops and sometimes in weathered shoes though he goes barefoot often for grip. A linen short jacket with custom pockets, a spotted neckerchief of gypsy origins, and a hemp, sleeveless shirt in summer. For more formal occasions he sports a shirt of Aegean silk and breeches with stockings. He does not use a hat but if the glare is bad he will line his lids with kohl.Personality:
It has not been an easy life for Jack Silver. He has grown ambitious in order to settle a score at home in a small town of Gimmerton, in Yorkshire. The youth weathered punishment silently as an adopted bastard child and what seemed to be nobility of spirit was actually silent avowal of revenge upon his father's legitimate family.
Even now he weathers punishment and difficulty with an impenetrable silence which is often the mark of his pride. That pride can sometimes get him into trouble of course. It's not that he's morose but he can be brooding. He's used to cruelty, and unfortunately turns to it when he has exhausted all other options. But his particular brand of cruelty carries with it a hint of tough love and the cunning to never go too far over the line. He doesn't lavish violence on just anyone.
He loves to play music and retreats into it when he wants for silence or space. He doesn't expect friendship or loyalty from others without some form of enforcement despite being capable of great loyalty himself. He has a fondness for jewelry that others may not find so palatable. Thick bands around his wrists or fingers, rosary-esque beads that glitter beneath the opening of his shirt.Birth place:

Some have called him Gypsy and some Lascar, others think he is a runaway slave from America. He is actually Romani. As a young boy he was brought in from the darkness of Liverpool's back alleys into the moorland home of the Durham family. The hushed rumors that he may be the bastard son of George Durham are actually true. Having had to take responsibility for the young boy when his biological mother died he named him Heath Durham. The name was that of a stillborn child in the new household prior to Jack's arrival. But that name was one that Jack Silver gladly cast aside later. He had never considered it his own to start with.
The life he led from that day on was abominable. His new adoptive family certainly didn't like how he disrupted their pale picture of tranquil domesticity. And the shockwaves of his father returning home with this dark and swarthy youth raised much gossip and scandal despite it being disguised as a good deed. Although he grew rather close to his adopted half-sister Lydia Durham, she was inconstant in faithfulness to him, and betraying his trust in her, they were doomed to part.
When his biological father died, his half-brother made Jack Silver the slave of the household, "putting him in his place" and forbidding him to be treated like any other child of the family. After he came of age, Jack left the moorland home to live on the docks. And soon after took to the sea. He had made up his mind to become a merchant and raise his own fortune. Soon this turned to Privateering. With the ambition to return to his adopted family's estate one day, to buy it out from under them. Whether or not this is where he ends up in the future remains to be seen.
At the moment he has signed on with the Privateers to fly under the Letter of Marque. While he is smaller than average height, the intensity which he conveys himself and his bearing is impressive. There is a smoldering, no-nonsense method of keen intelligence about him. And he learns almost too quickly. Adaptation was and still is his only saving grace at times.Weapon Skills:
His life at the docks has given his natural inclination toward violence and rough-housing an outlet in rudimentary swordplay. He's no lord and does not use a longsword (and not on a ship). He does know how to shoot a musket. Shooting was necessary for keeping the vermin down at home. Given his rough upbringing he's naturally gifted with his fists in self-defense.Anything else:
He is a musician and can play just about any stringed instrument of the time as well as pipes. He speaks a considerable amount of Romani
, the gypsy's language. His half-sister Lydia Durham taught him to read and write and they shared studies until he was 15. So he is a surprisingly learned man.Member InfoPlayer's name:
