The faithful privateer is a good father figure, caring for his crewmates, and, at the same time, a well rounded and well researched character, written by a very good writer, who has returned to us after a long break.

Faithfulness deserves to be spotlighted too!

Hello, I'm very excited about joining as a member of the French navy, but I have a few questions before I really get the ball rolling.

1: For play bys, how 'French' must the person look, especially in terms of clothing style? Naturally in the description I would conform to French fashion, but do the play by pictures also need to? One of the character types I've been heavily debating is the ship boy and finding a play by that looks like a ship boy from the 1700s is pretty tough.

2: On the linked page for ship positions there is a surgeon and a chaplain listed. Are these positions able to be filled or is it preferred that members stick with the positions listed on the ship roster page?

as for pb I think most people will work as long as they are famous. No myspace people or facebook pictures. Of course picking an asian looking person as a french born might also look odd, but so far this place is very open and as long as you think it could pass for a Frenchman then give it a go smile.gif As for proper clothing I can suggest either photoshopping the right clothes onto the character or find something that might be neutral enough to not draw attention. And if none of these things work then just crop a picture to show only the head of the PB

The ship rosters are noly a portion of the crew. They are who the staff found to be the most important or most fun to play. However plenty of people have made characters that didn't list on the roster. For the surgeon I am actually surprised that it is not listed as I know the other ships have one. The chaplain I just think was never really considered but both would have something to do at least and I would be surprised if any of those profession were denied.

For a ship boy, any poor -looking boy who had played a Medieval or Renaissance movie would do.

The ones who had been used until now for boys were from the movies "Merlin", "Oliver Twist", "Muppets Treasure Island".

I agree with all the other answers. If you have an interest for any unlisted rank, it can be "negotiated" wink.gif . The surgeon is welcome. The chaplain would be welcome as a secondary character, not your first one, I think, because he might not have much to do...
