we all know this is war,
I DON'T BELIEVE IN FATE,
BUT THE BOTTOM LINE, IT'S TIME TO PAY
YOU KNOW YOU'VE GOT IT COMING

Zumi felt all icky. Last night had been a rather stressful job and, once again, the petite woman had only just squirmed her way out of death's grasp. Then came the real problem - she'd been so tired she'd just curled up on her floor the second she got home and slept. No shower! Now Zumi felt the rewards for her laziness last night in skipping both her shower and her bed - she felt gross. Of course, the splice-hater had showered quite thoroughly now, and her back didn't really mind the hard floor due to its heritage, but she couldn't shake that slimy feeling. So Zumi had come to the only logical conclusion - get some tea! And not the mediocre tea she could make herself in her apartment, no, what Zumi found herself craving was something more authentic. And she knew just the place.

A few brisk minutes' walk found Zumi opening the elegant doors to the best (though that was possibly because it was the only) tea house in town. It's wannabe-Japanese style always gave her a kick. Today seemed to be very busy, for some reason. Was there some Japanese festival she'd forgotten coming? Zumi wasn't overly in touch with her heritage, so that could well be, but, regardless of the many pairs of feet sharing the moderately-sized room, she made her way up to the counter and cast an eye over the menu. Alongside the oriental green, white and oolong teas they also stocked Earl Grey, a variety of lattes and the all-american black coffee. For a moment, Zumi was tempted by the latter - what better way to shock her system awake? - but she'd come here for a taste of home.

So it was that the small woman seated herself at in one of the plush western armchairs circling the oriental low tables with a cup of plain sencha green tea in hand. Nothing exciting, but the strange, subtle mix of sweet and bitterness of the brew soothed her, washing the hard night out of her system. It also stirred memories of childhood visits to her mother's family overseas, but these were not too hard to press back to the fringes of her mind if she instead concentrated on the conversations of the people around her. Indeed, there were many to chose from. Zumi was accustomed to having a table to herself but not there was someone sat on either side of her. It was okay though; just sitting there with the buzz of conversation in her ears felt...normal.

What wasn't normal, however, was that she'd neglected to pick up a napkin on her way past the counter. Damn. Holding her tea carefully so as not to spill it (she hardly trusted people in general enough to leave it there), Zumi edged her way back to the counter, swiped some napkins and had just about made it back to her seat when -
"No!" My tea! "Crap, I'm sorry about that - someone just barged straight into me."
And it was true - the man behind her had jarred the smaller woman's elbow just enough to cause Zumi to inadvertently dump most of the contents of her cup over the person whom she'd formerly been sitting next to. Ironically, if she hadn't been holding so tight in an effort to avoid spillage, it probably would have just rattled a bit. As it was, the poor person was now wearing most of her tea. The girl cast a sad glance down at her small cup, now only a quarter full. She scanned the bustle of bodies behind her briefly, but in vain. There was no chance of picking out who the criminal was and making them pay for another tea. Zumi turned back to her victim with a disgruntled frown.
"Um, napkin?" She offered, a touch sheepishly.

thanks for making me stronger
AFTER ALL YOU PUT ME THROUGH YOU'D THINK I WOULD DESPISE YOU. BUT IN THE END I WANT TO THANK YOU BECAUSE YOU MAKE ME THAT MUCH STRONGER. WELL I THOUGHT I KNEW YOU, THINKING THAT YOU WERE TRUE GUESS I COULDN'T TRUST, CALLED YOUR BLUFF, TIME IS UP 'CAUSE I'VE HAD ENOUGH. YOU WERE THERE BY MY SIDE, ALWAYS DOWN FOR THE RIDE BUT YOUR JOY RIDE JUST CAME DOWN IN FLAMES 'CAUSE YOUR GREED SOLD ME OUT IN SHAME. AFTER ALL THE STEALING AND CHEATING YOU PROBABLY THINK THAT I HOLD RESENTMENT FOR YOU. BUT OH-NO. YOU'RE WRONG. -----------------------------------

Jessie could believe the kind of day that she's had. First of all, she was in the middle of a art piece that she loved, and then she spilled coffee all over it. No, it couldn't be salvaged, and the coffee definitely looked like it wasn't supposed to be on it. She had been forced to throw it out, something that made her want to scream in frustration. now she was just attempting to calm down, which was nearly impossible. She had vented and thrown things around her apartment, but when that had proven to be completely useless, she had simply sat down in the middle of the floor and cried. For quite a while. When her roommate came home, she thought that someone had came in and attacked Jessie. When she found out that it was simply Jessie in one of her rages, she had flipped out.

Why was it that roommate's always freaked out when Jessie threw things? It wasn't as if any of the crap was all that important. Who cared if a few picture frames were snapped in half? They didn't matter! The pictures beneath them were fine. Of course, getting yelled at didn't make Jessie feel any better, and Jessie didn't really have a good idea on how to be discreet. So instead, she had blew up at her roommate. After a good five minute yelling match, Jessie had stormed out of the apartment and attempted to cool down. Would she be so lucky as to be able to calm down from a walk? Oh no. Instead, she had been walking and a bird had pooped in her hair. So instead of walking and enjoying nature, Jessie had ended up with her head in a fountain attempting to be discreet about the fact that yes, she was washing her hair publicly.

Finally, she had seen the tea shop and thought, "Finally, somewhere I can be in peace." But was she so lucky? Honestly, Jessie didn't think that her day was going to give her a good mood at all. She had sat down at the counter and asked for a glass of hot water. Jessie had never liked coffee, and teas just made her stomach turned. But a glass of hot water? Now that just warmed a person to the soul. The guy had immediately made fun of her. Oh Jessie knew that he was just trying to be cute. Some idiot attempting to flirt by being rude. But it honestly hadn't helped in Jessie's day of hell. So instead of flirting back, like she was certain that the man was expecting her to do, she had blew up again. And then had immediately felt awful about it. She was going to leave him a huge tip.

Then a woman had sat down beside her, and Jessie had immediately felt like she was smothered. She had planned on getting up, but then the woman had moved. Settling back into her seat, Jessie had been taking a sip of her hot water when the woman returned and spilled water down the front of the person on the other side of her. Jessie had even patted herself down to make certain that she hadn't gotten any of the hot tea on her. Shocked, she looked up and burst out laughing at the expression on the person's face. It really was priceless. Was that what she had looked like all day? When the person walked away angrily, Jessie finally managed to get control over herself. "That was the best thing that I have seen all day!" Holding out her hand, Jessie grinned at the woman. "Jessie Rumford. Honestly, you just made my day. It is a pleasure to meet you."
