You're probably wondering, well who in the world paid for all these things to be done. Since when did genetic engineers start a project that was obviously expensive on their own? This entire horror started when the pharmacutical companies funded genetic engineering as animals. Since they decided to do this, a few genetic engineers also thought that it would be interesting to meld human DNA with that of the animals they were testing. They justified this by saying that the result would not be entirely human. It was illegal to create human clones, but it was not illegal to create humanoids. While the rest of the world watched with horror, they created their first line of creatures that they called "Splices".

Of course, there was no way that these companies could contain creatures that they didn't know anything about. They thought that they would be able to control these creations, and not have to worry about the consequences. But they did. The Splices got out, and started reproducing at an enormously fast rate. Because of this, the pharmacutical companies were blamed. They tried everything they could to corral these creatures back to their testing sites. But even the genetic engineers realized that this was something that they couldn't stop no matter how hard they tried. Every attempt to get these creatures back to a stable place was thwarted, and that was not because the attempts were flawed. The Splices were animals with a human brain, something that scared them more then ever.

Now they are simply trying to cover up the mistakes that they made. They are trying to convince the public that these creatures are harmless, but simply must be controlled correctly. A rare few believe them, but at least it's a start. The only way they have thought of to combat this growing population of Splices is to create more, and train them the way that they want them to be trained. But these creatures are smarter then they look, and many continually escape. There are a choice few who have been successfully contained and brainwashed, but they are melded with weak creatures that could not be used against the weakest free Splices. Because of this, the company doesn't know what to do next.
