The Rules
These rules below are the rules of this forum. They MUST be followed, or you will quickly find yourself deleted without much warning.
1. Firstly we are all ‘adults’ here, or at least to think like we can act like it when we are OOC, so basically – please be nice and respectful to the other members. When in character, you can be as mean as you wish about other characters, but when you take the comments out of this then action shall be taken against you. If you feel as though you have an issue with another member, please PM the admin account [here] and we shall try and resolve the problem without any aggravation between you and another member. I mean – we’re all here to have fun right! ^^
2. We beg of you to use proper spelling and grammar in your posts. That means the use of: commas, exclamation marks, question marks, speech marks, colons, semi-colons and so on. It makes it easier for the person who is replying to your post to read the flow of your writing and will aid you to become a better writer in general.
2a. This rule also mean NO internet/text speak. There will be no posts including sentences like:
“He wuz lyke ‘omg, u r sure u h8 im?’”
We would rather shoot ourselves in the foot than have to read 100s of post like that – so please for the sake of our poor feet, don’t do it.
3. Simple really, NO MARY-SUE’S. Here is an example of a Mary-sue! Do not make a character like her. No one is perfect, even if they like to think they are. If we think your character is dangerously close to being a Mary-Sue then we shall tell you so.
4. There shall be no god-moding on this site. Not in the slightest. That means you cannot decide even as little as a facial expression from another character without the permission of the person who plays it. You can never presume how a character would react to something if they are not your character, so just don’t do it.
5. All the role-pay posts are made in third person, past tense. No arguments. No discussion. Third person. Past tense.
6. This site has been rated an over all PG-13 but we will allow R as long as it sign posted within the topic title, and it must be placed in the title. We know that as relationships develop more R rated actions are bound to happen but please keep them to a minimum. NO NC-17!
7. Avoid one liners as much as possible. That is something that can really slow down an RP and it also can very much annoy someone who has posted a few paragraphs above you. With longer posts it gives more for the other characters to work with for their replies, making everyone’s writing better in the long run. It is understandable if you are having trouble thinking, writers block affects us all from time to time, but please even in this instance try and post a bit more than a line.
Example of a good post length | QUOTE | Brushing his hand over his head Gale whined as he was woken up by sound of a crowing bird outside his dorm window. Normally he was pleasantly awoken by the sound of birdsong in the late morning but when it was a magpie at on the window ledge in the late afternoon when all he wanted to do was nap before his … evening with Sebastian. He almost thought of it as a date but Gale was never one for using that label with his guys, the word ‘date’ always implied that there was going to be some sort of romantic context, which wasn’t at all his style. Yeah, he would go to a club and dance and screw whoever, but that wasn’t a date, that was just a good night out. A date in his head included flowers and candles and sweet nothings, all things that made him shudder at the thought.
He lifted his head up from the pillow and winced as the dying light from outside was at the right sort of level to almost blind him as he tried to get out of his bed. He wanted to throw himself back down onto the soft mattress but knew it was better to just get up now and get dressed and meet Sebastian early, he was sure the boy would be there early anyway, he seemed the eager type. Gale’s favourite. Moving over to the wardrobe Gale looked at all of his options, he liked clothes so there was quite a task ahead of him. He wasn’t the sort of guy to spend hours trying things on to see which looked best, but he could spend quite a bit of time standing in front of the open doors, mentally picking out the perfect outfit for the occasion. In this instance he went for jeans and a white t-shirt, his ‘Stay Gold’ hoddie placed on top, for full affect … and he was never seen anywhere without some form of hoddie on.
Zipping up his fingers instantly found their way to dance along the hem of the jacket, somewhat of a nervous habit of his as he left his bedroom, knowing that he wouldn’t really need much else than himself and the wallet in the back pocket of his jeans. His wallet was like his best friend when it came to a night out, almost anything that was needed could be found within it and most of the time that consisted of a fake ID, money and condoms (just in case). He walked out of the dorms and down into the school, smiling and winking at a few of the students that caught his eye – god damn this was a good school – and walked further to finally get himself into the village. Considering they were on such a nice little island, the fact it was overrun with students of the school meant that it was actually quite a good little party village. Sitting on the arm of the bench where they’d agreed to meet Gale bounced his leg against the floor and looked around to see if he could spot the his sex muffin before he started to look like a fool. |
8. Activity! One of the most important things as a role-player is that you are active on the site. (Question: In the ‘likes’ section of the application, put one of them as ‘Santi’) You should not really be joining yourself up to many sites if you are only able to get onto a computer once every two weeks, it is unfair for another member you may be playing with for you to be absent for so long whilst they await a reply. If you are absent for longer than a week, that means not logging onto your account for that time, than a warning e-mail shall be sent to you reminding you of this activity rule and if you fail to at least log in within day days after that you shall be placed as inactive and you will need to re-apply.
9. On the use of ‘normal’ people as play-bys, it is accepted but please do try and keep it to a bare minimum. There are 100s of celebrities and models out there for you to pick from so try not to use Myspace, GoneGothic or VampireFreaks as you’re first choices.
10. We like lots of students so you can have as many as you would like whilst you are on this site but there are a few stipulations in order for you to have them. You can create you’re characters one after the other if you wish but before we allow you you’re third character you have to prove to us that you are active and dedicated enough to handle a third character. To enable this we require at least 100 posts in both accounts before we allow you have your third.
11. Signatures. Firstly; Make sure your signature does not widen the forum, or push the sidebar smaller. If they do they shall be removed without warning! Secondly; Please make them no higher than 400px, it can become very annoying for people to have to scroll down for days in order to read the next post, and it makes the board look untidy and slows its loading time. If the image you want is taller that 400px then you can put a link to it instead.
