Here's a project I'm in the middle of... I discovered "anim8or" by doing a google search looking for a 3D animation program... and decided I am going to make a series of small avi movies featuring the "comical" exploits of the goblin "Arik the Red", as you see I am using "his" name online... a spin-off of my own name "Aric". "Arik the Red" is a character that is part of an online game "www.DarkThrone.com" .

After I finish Arik, I will be making a fairy-elf ... and the series will include where the goblin - the great hater and slayer of "stinkin' elf thingies" - finds himself confronted with a sad and destitute blue fairy elf... how he shows his great ability to become accepting of an elf by offering her shelter and food... (puts her on a collar and chain and makes her stay by the fire rolleyes.gif ).

Here's where I've kept some screenshots of my experimenting to make parts for the Arik project, and other anim8or stuff:

QUOTE (TT Snim @ Jun 4 2007, 08:36 PM)
Tiz all very good looking so far Arik!  I MUST know how you made that tower!  XD

And YAY!  A forum for anim8ors!  I've allways wanted to belong to a group like this!  *Sniffs*

*Huggs*

I can't wait to see more!  <3

I built the tower in question by quite simply stacking blocks!

I drew a circle, made a block... and reshaped it a bit with rounded edges... and stack stack stack... made a ring of blocks... and then copied and pasted it... stacked the 2nd ring on the first, rotating it enough to overlap brick-style...

Then, I made a second set of 2 rings, reduced size by 5 percent... and so on up to the top.

The blocks have a bit of gap, so I made a black cylinder to set inside the stones to mask the gap.

And yes, I love legos!

Legos Rock! It looks very creative there! Are you going to add a .bmp map to the bricks?

The goblin's being completely revamped... When done, like it says in the first message:

"...I am going to make a series of small avi movies featuring the "comical" exploits of the goblin "Arik the Red", as you see I am using "his" name online... a spin-off of my own name "Aric". "Arik the Red" is a character that is part of an online game "www.DarkThrone.com" .

(puts her on a collar and chain and makes her stay by the fire )."

The Radioland project needed a break...

Resurrecting this project... Starting again from scratch! Got all my sketches in order, now building "Arik the Red", in form to follow the avatar I have made.. but more "cartoonish"...

Jaws of Doom (good for eating elf!)

Building the Goblin Eyes

The main body will be a single object for smooth movement, but I really had issues with how to make eyes and certain other things work in any other way than to create them as individual objects. Since the character is to be somewhat comical/whimsical, I figured this would do.

Also, color of eyes, etc. is all subject to change. Had to choose something for the sake of moving forward...

Objects:
- Eyeball - duplicated for each eyeball bone. Minor detail note: Pupils are open holes with a sunken black backing. Eye actually has a near-transparent lens over iris and pupil. will be adding more glossy look for moistness.
- Eyelid - duplicated and flipped for each bone.

Bones:
- Stalk 1 (left and right): Stationary, branching off main head bone, for
locating the eye's X axis on the head, will be used for
other branch-offs as well (moving ears to come later)
- Eyestalk (left and right): Stationary, for locating the eye's Z axis on the head
- Eyeball (left and right): for turning the eye. Will have approx. 45 degree
rotation up, down, left and right.
- Eyelids (left and right, upper and lower): for winking, blinking. Will have
approx. 90 degree up and down rotation for full blink, wink, squint,
bug-eye etc. expressions. Eyelids lack detail for now, using same
object for all eyelids. Will work out for detail later (bumpy-ness,
irregularity and character, etc).

Note about teeth: I located the teeth for getting the eyes in perspective with the mouth. Also, have not decided for sure about the gums so they are removed here. Mouth details will be sorted separately.
