Name: Morrigane von Austerlitz
Age: 25
Gender: Female
Job Class: Professor - Headmistress of the Schwarzwald Sage University, Geomancer
Nationality: Yuno

Physical Attributes:
Morrigane sports dark hair which she styles -- with magic -- in bouncy twin spirals that cascade down her shoulders and onto her ample chest, while her straight bangs frame the top of her face. Without the magic though, her hair is straight and extends past her waist. Her eyes are a startling green, and her skin fair and generally unblemished, save for some scars here and there because of her mage training.

She has that rather slim body that most spell casters possess; slim, and generally not muscled. Her height is also average, at 5’6. More often than not, she can be seen wearing her white and green Professor uniform, along with her Balloon Hat, customized to have green ribbons instead of blue. She has a thing for long flowing dresses and flat shoes, though this does not mean that she would hesitate to wear short skirts and heels when needed.

Personality:
Morri seems cold at first glance. This view of her is what persists throughout the Schwarzwald Sage University, as she is known to be strict in her lessons and rigid in her training. She can also be quite snappish and curt; she likes being straightforward and blunt to her students and friends, and she thinks that this is a service to them. The only pretense that she could put on would probably be a blank expression; she acknowledges that there are times that a person’s dignity must be preserved.

A perfectionist, she is neat as a pin and quite the workaholic; her spartan way of dealing with things, intolerance with slackers and sharp tongue are a lethal combination. Despite this, she rarely hesitates to give some assistance when asked and knows that things take time, she just hates it when people don’t attempt to get a move on. She values humility and simplicity, and would like her students to learn this the hard way -- ask, and you shall receive. She is very competitive and would like her fellows to be the same; she hates being on the losing end of anything.

Behind her ferocity, however, is a soft side that is easily hurt; once she gets attached to something, it is quite difficult for her to let go. She can hold grudges, and she can be very violent in expressing her anger, at rare times even losing all reason.

Strengths:
+ Extremely talented with land spells.
+ Open-minded.
+ Attentive to detail

Weaknesses:
- She’s afraid of heights. Especially when she’s not stepping or holding onto solid ground.
- Land skills take some time to set up.
- Loves her research more than she values personal relationships. She rarely goes out of her way to attend parties and socializing functions.
- Perfectionist. Has pretty high standards for her students that it’s almost suicide being under her tutelage.
- She has some self-esteem issues that she covers up with a cold facade.

History:
Morrigane spent the first years of her life in one of Yuno’s orphanages. Life there was pretty simple, if not dreary; the food was the same almost everyday, the faces she saw were the same
everyday, and the faded colors of the clothes they were given to wear... little squabbles and the competition to be picked by potential adopters were the few things that made life there a little... colorful. But the thing that gave the most color to her life were the rose bushes that grew sparsely on the backyard of the orphanage. The small, observable changes piqued her curiosity and broke the monotony of the life there, and so she spent day after day observing, learning, discovering.

She was nearing her seventh birthday when she was adopted by an old, childless lady who lived in Hugel. Her adoptive mother, Astrid, was a sage; she felt the potential magical talent that Morrigane possessed, and thought that it would be a waste not to nurture such talent. The woman didn’t dote on her, and Morrigane was thankful for it; it would’ve just made her feel that she were a replacement of someone else. Astrid served as a role model for her to follow; her elegance and grace was some sort of dream to her, but Morrigane wasn’t the type to mince words...

As part of Astrid’s wish to develop Morrigane’s abilities, the child was sent to the Rekenber Child Development Center for primary education. As expected, she scored perfect marks when it came to magical aptitude tests, to the rest she scored average. It was just like how Astrid had imagined it; Morrigane naturally got interested in magic and its intricacies and complications. She received the recommendation to be a mage during their career orientation, but in truth she was in no need of a recommendation; the day she was to receive the recommendation, she was already on the airship to Rune Midgard. She was twelve.

It felt nice to be in the University of Arcana, surrounded by people with almost the same interests as her. But no one pursued magical studies as aggressively as she did; as a result, she had few friends, and most of which were just leechers, taking advantage of Morrigane’s naivety and leeched homework off her. It didn’t take long for the instructors to notice this, and Morri was subjected to a talk about it. While she stopped letting others copy her work, she became open for tutorials. Some instructors even recommended her to students, and soon she was managing a small study group.

She met a lot of people of different ages and different walks of life, with different reasons for being there. Most of them had problems grasping magical theory; some were just not magically attuned to a certain element, while some were simply forced into the job class. Morrigane knew the limitations of her abilities, and knew that there were some problems that she couldn’t just solve with tutoring. With some persuasion, she was able to enlighten some to choose a different job class if they didn’t really want to be a mage.

It was also during this period that she met several people who would have had an effect to her as a whole, or who she genuinely thought were interesting.

One of them was a certain upperclassman from Amatsu who showed genuine intent to learn. She was moved by his determination to learn, that she hung out with him frequently, teaching him the finer points of the other kinds of magic. Their companionship had to be cut short however; he was promptly kicked out of the University for hazing. He, however, promised her that her efforts would not be wasted and that they would meet again, soon.

Another was a pair of twins. The older twin was someone she admired for his rather stoic grace; he reminded her of her mother’s disposition on things. The younger was completely obsessed with the older twin and lashed out at anyone who tried to get close to her brother. At some point, it struck a nerve on Morrigane.. and soon, she would find herself constantly competing with the younger twin with grades and such.

Another was another upperclassman who got into her study group on purpose, upon getting a hold of the information that there were a lot of girls there. Morri, likewise, was ensnared by his charm; he was one of the very few who told her that she was beautiful. Discovering that he had said the same thing to the other girls in the group and that he was causing a lot of distraction and conflicts within the group, she promptly kicked him out, and had the rest of the group get angry at her. It only fuelled her anger against him and a growing desire to transfer schools; the curriculum was getting uninteresting for her.

Her mother seemed to have seen this; she readily accepted Morrigane’s idea of transferring, and soon, Morrigane left for the Schwarzwald Sage University. And it was there that she found what exactly she was looking for. She was sixteen.

Observance of magical phenomena. Manipulation of magical elements to augment one’s magic. It was all interesting to her, and it didn’t take her long to catch up to the lessons and graduate into a sage. She found that her best strength was with earth magics; she sought to perfect in it. Eventually, she was promoted to be one of the Geomancers, sages and professors who observed natural phenomena concerning the weather and nature and the topology and topography of the world. She made the most accurate predictions, the sturdiest land spells, and even developed the ability to destroy others’ and deal damage with them. She was regarded as an expert on land spells, and was consequently made the head instructor for it.

Due to her outstanding work, the Headmaster of the SSU granted her a recommendation for transcendence -- and her mother was positively overjoyed. It took her some months before she got back from her pilgrimage to Valhalla, all shiny and new, and with a renewed fervor to know more about the world. She was nineteen years old.

She turned her efforts into developing her secondary affinity -- spirit -- and subsequently developed ways to assimilate it with her earth magics. A few years into transcendence, and she was chosen by the Headmaster to succeed him. She has held the Headmistress post for about two years now, and she’s introduced some changes to how the system worked. Needless to say, getting into SSU has gotten a little more difficult than before.

It's a very interesting position too, as she was passed with the knowledge that a certain special person was within their ranks and that she should watch her closely. Morrigane has found this person to be quite amiable -- it is to be noted that this special person is one of the few who would call the Headmistress by her nickname. Others, however, aren't so lucky...
