The Keyron family established Rekenber Corporation some eight hundred years ago, the first major economic power that would soon put the city of Lighthalzen on a long-time rivalry against Yuno, City of Knowledge, for prestige in the Republic of Schwarzwald. What started as a small-time machine shop turned and expanded into a research group that was also responsible for inventions, research and minor study of arcana.
Lucius, the 8th patriarch of the Keyron family, had an ambitious plan that was spawned after the outbreak of the Scarlet Fever among the Lighthal populace. He wanted to extend the business franchise of Rekenber Corporation beyond ordinary medicine and arcana; he wanted to improve the human body so that adventurers would be more resilient and hardy, especially against the pilgrimage to Valhalla, which had a high mortality rate even then.
But Lucius Keyron was limited by the finances and technologies of his time. That would change when his son Alfonse would take the reigns when he turned twenty-one. A brilliant Scholar of his generation, Alfonse Keyron was ready to take his father's ambitions to new heights. Cooperating with the Chemist and the Wizard guilds, their time further expanded the homunculus research and delved further into the academe that already consisted of the Ymir Heart scholarship and body of knowledge.
The Rekenber Corporation would soon gain world prestige with their expertise on Ymir Heart technology under Alfonse's daughter, Victoria, her son Edmund and his son, Frederick.
It was Victoria who would recruit the best guild masters of their generation for DNA sampling. At that time, their names were known far and wide: Seyren Windsor, Howard Alt-Eisen, Margaretha Sorin, Shecil Damon, Eremes Guile, Enignem Cenia, Kavach Icarus, Armeyer Dinze, Laurell Winder, Wickebine Tres and Errende Ebecee.
But again, DNA was not enough with the inadequacy of technology. Victoria and Edmund were not about to let go of their projects.
It was at that time that the guild masters vanished.
Scandal and media probing searched far and wide, but Rekenber Corp was adamantine in its silence and denial, and evidence was too scant.
The world had to accept the mysterious disappearance of it's generation of heroes.
Frederick Keyron and Isabella Gautierre-Keyron were a High Wizard and Professor couple, hell-bent on seeing the success of the plans of their predecessors. The technology was finally at a stage to aid them. Renewed efforts and fresher prespectives bolstered the renewed vigor of using the Ymir Heart fragments to fortify the human body against ills and dangers of the world.
Born to the couple were twins Galen and Kathrynne. Both children had the genius of the Keyron family, although Kathrynne showed more signs of being the right successor to their parents, as Galen, upon coming of age, showed aversion to the clandestine project and family secret.
It culminated in what was known as the Lighthalzen Scandal, wherein Galen Keyron abandoned the city and departed to Geffen. Kathrynne Keyron soon took up the reigns from their parents, and withdrew into the depths of the Somatology Laboratory.
