The Deep Core is at the center of the galaxy, even closer than the Core Worlds like Coruscant and Alderaan.

The Core Worlds
The Core Worlds are the known worlds, or planetary systems, that are near the core of the Star Wars galaxy. The core worlds are the richest, most populated worlds in the Star Wars Galaxy, and it was the Core Worlds that first formed the Old Republic.

The Colonies
The Colonies were some of the first planets settled outside the Core Worlds by the Republic, especially the region known as "The Slice", defined by the edges of the Perlemian Trade Route and the Corellian Run. There were also Worlds in the Colonies that were founding members of the Republic.

The Inner Rim
This is the Inner Rim of the galaxy, colonized later than the Colonies Region. It was once thought to be the extent of the galaxy before the Expansion Region was discovered. It contains worlds such as Thyferra, Manaan, and Obroa-Skai.

The Expansion Region
The Expansion Region is precisely what it sounds like; it is territory colonized during a sudden expansion from the Inner Rim territories. During most of the Old Republic, it was considered a vast field of raw materials.

The Mid Rim
The Mid Rim is a galactic ring located between the Outer Rim and Inner Rim/Expansion Regions. On the border of the division lies Nam Chorios and the Meridian Sector. Other planets in the area include Naboo, Ithor, and Ord Mantell.

The Outer Rim
The Outer Rim Territories is the outermost part of the explored portion of the Star Wars galaxy. During the long period of the Galactic Republic, the Outer Rims were very isolated, this is due to many uncharted regions and planets, untouched for countless centuries. Because of this isolation from other worlds, it became a breeding ground for criminals and scum

Wild Space
Wild Space is on the frontier of the known galaxy, and is the blurred edge separating civilization from the Unknown Regions. Planets in this region lie so far from the galactic centers of power that they are virtually ignored. Very few people have ventured into Wild Space and into the Unknown Regions. Technically speaking, Wild Space extends beyond the galaxy in some areas. Outbound Flight, a Jedi project to explore realms beyond the known galaxy, crossed through Wild Space en route to the Unknown Regions.

The Galactic Republic
The Galactic Republic is governed by a body of Senators representing the many worlds of the galaxy. Within the cavernous Senate rotunda, hundreds of politicians fill the viewing platforms that line the curved walls. When a Senator wishes to speak, the platform will detach and float to the center of the auditorium for all to see.

The Senate Guard
An elite security force assembled to protect members of the Galactic Senate, the Senate Guard are garbed in outdated yet symbolic blue robes and helmets. The stoic guards stand watch over the massive Senate rotunda on Coruscant, and its members can be found aboard almost all senatorial transports.

Jedi Council
A noble order of protectors unified by their belief and observance of the Force, the Jedi hearken back to a more civilized, classical time in galactic history. Their order is ancient, spanning over a thousand generations. As the Galactic Republic throve and grew over the centuries, the Jedi came to serve it as guardians of peace and justice.

Order of the Sith
An ancient order of Force-practitioners devoted to the dark side and determined to destroy the Jedi, the Sith is a menace long thought extinct. The current incarnation of the Sith is the result of a rogue Jedi dissident from the order. Two thousand years ago, this Jedi had come to the understanding that the true power of the Force lay not through contemplation and passivity. Only by tapping its dark side could its true potential be gained. The Jedi Council at the time balked at this new direction. The Dark Jedi was outcast, but he eventually gained followers to his new order. Awakening beliefs from the dark past, the new Sith cult continued to grow.
