I know that I've probably made about half the current topics on the AmDrag board so far, but this was a pretty cool tidbit from sweetjuliet over at the American Dragon Fan Forums:

http://amdrag.blogspot.com/

It's a brand new blog from executive producers Eddie Guzelian and Matt Negrete. Not much there at the moment (except for the story about the pilot reel, and how to "never underestimate a good fart joke"), but you can expect some neat behind-the-scenes info and stories soon. It's really neat to just get some insight on the background of the show from some of the primary staff; it can help you appreciate just some of the hard work they put into making each and every show.

And, yes, it really is them.

Hey, don't feel bad, this section would've been much deader without you.

I didn't really like the fart jokes in the first episode, but I don't blame the writers. Those Disney execs are weird for making them put it in.

I didn't really like the joke that much, either, but if it weren't for that, the pilot probably might have gotten scrapped from the beginning. Plus, it wouldn't have eventually evolved to include soap opera story arcs!

...American Dragon was a show that had been kicking around in development at Disney Television Animation for years.

I first heard about it while I was working as a story editor on Kim Possible and I remember thinking that it seemed like a slam dunk...

Sweet! biggrin.gif

You know, that site has the potential to become the "KP Tome" of American Dragon. smile.gif

Looks like they put up a new entry last night about their decision to make developmental story arcs, and the creation of the character Rose. Apparently she was originally designed as a "Lois Lane-type school newspaper reporter". My, how things can change.

I'm not much of a fan of this show, but I think the blog looks pretty awesome. I know a lot of people here appreciate the link Max Power. smile.gif

There's a new entry up about how they casted the voice actors for the main characters on the show (sweet!).

Apparently, Jake's initial hip-hop slang was really inspired as a way to escape the "blandness" of the preliminary character. They encouraged Dante Basco to ad-lib on the writing to help infuse it with a different style, and even purposely wrote content that poked fun at "MTV gangstas".

A new entry in the blog, this one about a few changes made during the show's production. "Homecoming" was originally meant to be a two-parter.

Wow... They actually planned to kill one of the characters? blink.gif That would have been really surprising.

Eddie even wrote the first draft. But the episode was deemed “too dark” and “too Jetix."

Jetix should be moved to its own channel, not because it's that good, but because its shows are taking up space on the Disney Channel! tongue.gif

i had a thought this morning.

jakes grandfather when he first fought the dark dragon 30 ago looked to be single (no ring) now even assuming that he met jakes grandma that same year married her and knocked her up. for jake to be as old as he is she would have had to have had him at 15 or 16 (teenage pregnecy a disney no no)

Yeah, there's really weird setups as far as past events go.

In the summary for the season two episode, "Hero of the Hourglass", it's revealed that both Jake's mom and dad were in high school in 1986, so they were between the ages of 15 and 18. It's most likely 18, since that would make the most sense for when Jake was born (setting for the show is 2004-06, meaning that Jake could have been born in 1990-92 to be as old as he is now; his mom would have been 22-24, which is a little more reasonable.). The summary for "Hong Kong Nights" mentions the time frame is in the 1960's (meaning that Susan was born in 1968, to be 18 in 1986), but I'm certain that Fu Dog mentioned that it was somewhere in the 1970's.

It gets kind of confusing, but hopefully we'll get more insight on it when stuff like "Hero of the Hourglass" premieres.
