After letting Spencer get his prized guitar, the two of them snuck out the back enterance that hardly anybody used, and ran to Delilah's car. She could tell she was being a really bad influence right now, but she blamed Scott -- He rubbed off on her. Besides, she was just too tired to really deal with the rest of the school day, and she could tell that Spencer was too. In the car, they talked about music, and laughed as usual about stupid things. It was sunny outside, so they rolled down the windows and blared the music for the fun of it. It was then that Delilah really realized how much they needed to hang out, just the two of them. It was always the three of them, and when it wasn't, it was just Delilah and Scott. She never let herself realize how much more attention she should give Spencer.

When they got to the house, they dropped their bookbags by the front door, and went straight to the den. Delilah debated on whether or not they should go to her room and just go to sleep up there, but that wouldn't be a very good idea. Spencer and Delilah were close, yea, so it wouldn't be a big deal for them -- But if Scott found out that they slept in Delilah's room together, it'd be a huge deal. Once they were in the den, Delilah plopped down on the couch and stretched out with a yawn. "I. am. so. tired." She whined, resting her head on one of the pillows and closing her eyes for a second.

The car ride to Delilah’s house had been an entertaining one at that. They’d talked and laughed and really, it was just like old times. ‘Old times’ meaning the times before ‘Scott and Delilah’ had become ‘ScottandDelilah’. Sure, the three of them spent a great majority of their free time together, but there was always that inevitable point where Spencer knew he wasn’t really needed. It wasn’t like he was a third wheel or anything, but it was inevitable that Scott would get more quality time with Di than he could, because, well, they weren’t dating. And that’s just how it was. Not to mention the amount of time Spencer spent every day listening to Scott talk about how amazing Delilah was and having Spencer give him advice on this or that (“what do you think she meant by this?” “should I get her this or that?” “should I take her here or there?”). The fact was, Spencer knew how amazing Delilah, and it was nice to actually get to spend some alone time with her. In a completely platonic way, of course. Because Spencer was many things, but a realist first and foremost. He wasn’t fooling himself.

When they got to her house and eventually to the den, he laid back on the other end of the couch, giving her room to stretch out as he set his feet on the coffee table. He laughed at her declaration of how tired she was. “You’re telling me,” he started, dropping his head back on the couch farther. “While you were playing nurse to the Boy Wonder, I was up thinking about how in hell I’m going to deal with having this girl in my house for the rest of the school year,” he continued. “That, and you know, other… philosophically deep things…” Even he had to roll his eyes at himself on that one. But really, he was comfortable and tired and the yawn that escaped his mouth at that second wasn’t just for giggles.

Delilah knew that Spencer had somewhat of a sleeping problem. He was such an insomniac. During the summer, she had told him to call her whenever he couldn't go to sleep, and she'd promise to bore him into a deep slumber. That's when the three o'clock in the morning phone calls started taking place. He would only do it in the summer though, because Spencer was a nice kid -- He valued Delilah's sleep just like she did herself. But in the summer, they were always on the phone and Delilah always tried to get him to sleep by boring him, but he always found amusement and interest in what she said somehow, because he'd always have something to reply with. Delilah had told him once before that his brain was what wouldn't let him sleep -- He thought way too much, and he let his thoughts bug him unnaturally. Delilah had to admit, though, that she loved the fact that Spencer's brain was always on the move. It's what made him interesting.

"Her name is Lily, right?" Delilah asked, as she shifted herself over so that she could rest her head on Spencer's lap, so she could fully lay down on the couch. Delilah giggled lightly when he mentioned the deep philosophy. "Oh, my. I can see it now. In the English Literature books, and even the History books, it shall say Spencer Cole - One of the greatest philosophers of our time." She teased, laying on her back so that she could smile up at him.

“You mean they don’t say that already?” he asked jokingly, smirking slightly back at her as he sunk back into the couch a little more and she decided to use his lap as a pillow. Yes, she was one of the few people who knew how hard it was for him to fall asleep at night. It had been like that for a long time. He was a night owl, his mind constantly going and he could stay up for hours in the dark just staring at the ceiling, thinking about everything and nothing. The only two things that had ever seemed to help him get to sleep (well, besides the obvious dose of Nyquil) were blaring his music to drown out his thoughts or talking to someone. So in the summer, when he‘d told Delilah about his problem, she‘s said to call her so that she could “bore him to sleep”. Little did she know that her boring him was impossible. However, it did help him somehow, even if they did end up talking into all hours of the night. He just felt more content after they hung up and it was easier to doze off that way.

“And yeah, it’s Lily Huang,” he replied, after a beat, shaking his thoughts away. “You know she bowed to me when I first met her?” he asked with semi-amused confusion. At the time he‘d been pretty confused, but looking back on it, it was pretty funny when he thought about it. “Maybe I look like the Prince of Japan or something,” he joked, sarcastically.

Delilah had never really met Lily. She had seen her once when she went to Spencer's house, and she had passed her a couple times in the hall at school. She had always thought that her clothes were adorable, but she never complimented her or anything. It kind of made Delilah feel bad. She knew that if she were a new student in a new country away from her family, she'd want to have somebody to talk to. The more she thought about it, the more she made herself a promise: that she would talk to Lily the next time she saw her. Delilah giggled a bit at Spencer's statement about Lily bowing, and him looking like the Prince of Japan. The best part about being best friends with Scott and Spencer was that they always made her laugh -- And laughing was like, her favorite thing to do.

"Don't get any ideas, Spencer. I, for one, have no idea what the Prince of Japan looks like, so I won't be bowing to you anytime soon," Delilah teased him, grinning up at his pale, yet adorable face. "Besides, I didn't even know that Japan had a Prince." She added, shrugging a bit.

“I think they have an emperor. Or something,” he replied with a shrug. Spencer knew a lot of pointless things, but the ins and outs of the Japanese hierarchy just didn’t make the list. Oh well, maybe he’d ask Lily about it later. It would give him reason to strike up conversation with her and she’d probably feel more comfortable talking to him about something she knew about.. After all, not everyone was like him. Not everyone could spend hours alone in their room, or “the cave” as his parents called it, with a guitar and be completely and totally happy. Normal people, he supposed, liked to socialize.

“But I’m thinking he’s probably a lot more…Asian than I am,” he continued after a beat, as if that wasn‘t completely obvious. He smiled as he went on. “Hmm, maybe I could be Prince of the Albinos, though. Taking over the world, one tanning bed at a time...”

Delilah laughed hard when he made the albino comment. Somehow, that would never get old. Probably because nothing got old when it came to Scott and Spencer. It never seemed to lose it's funny-factor. Thinking about that made her miss Scott a little. It was slightly weird without him around. Not that is was weird just being with Spencer, it was just weird that Scott wasn't here -- Because he always was. She wondered if he'd get mad that they had hung out without him. She couldn't think of a reason why he'd get mad, but Scott had his weird days sometimes, and occasionally, he'd get a really strange demeanor about something or someone. Besides, she and Spencer hadn't been together just the two of them since God knows when, so that fact might make Scott feel a bit uneasy. She didn't bring it up, though. If she did, Spencer might get weird and just decide to leave or something. It wasn't in him to argue with Scott. Whenever a fight might start, it ended. Spencer just didn't fight. That was another good thing about him.

"Can I be your accomplice? I mean, theres no way in hell you can take over so many tanning beds alone. You need me, ya know." She replied, making an I'm-so-noble face. Sometimes, Delilah hoped that Spencer did need her like she needed him. He was such a loner, and he fancied being alone a lot. He was her best friend... She didn't know where she'd be without him. The thought freaked her out a bit.
