Remember, you'll pay for health care no matter what. Universal health care=the government pays for your health care through taxes.
Also know that you pay for everyone's health care, so you pay for the average yet you're covered for how sick you are, so say you're a fairly healthy person you're still paying for an average hiked up by people who are unhealthy. Also, people who don't pay taxes still get the benefit of health care because you're paying for it for them. Join a union, the government will just fuck you over. -------------------- |

So what you are saying is that you would rather keep a few extra cents in your pocket than help out someone that doesn't have the same resources as you? don’t you find that wrong?
I thin people should stop thinking of themselves so much and try helping out others...you never know when you will be the one in need. So wouldn’t you want someone that could help help instead of keeping a few extra cents in their pockets? -------------------- |

Rick has a point. America was based on the ideal that we are a community. Not a group of people out to fuck each other over..... Which is exactly what we are doing to each other these days. Unity > Being divided. All i have to say. Good work Rick. |

Helping is one thing, paying someone’s medical bill is another. Lets look at community run medical centers, where the entire community pools it’s resources and builds a medical center that runs free of charge. I couldn’t find any, I wonder why no one, even after seeing this great film has thought of that idea and got it done.
Oh yeah, now that the government controls our healthcare system it can then set demands. Should people who smoke or drink alcohol be allowed into the medical system? How about doctors? Canada has a huge shortage of doctors since they are payed on government wages, which along with public school teachers are criminally low. Government is not a form of charity, it’s a controlling force, and the more power you give it the less you’ll have. -------------------- |

Well I would rather have the government control the medical industry than some big fat rich man who doesn’t give a rats ass about people and charge what ever he wants for medicne..why should the same medicine that cost 5cents in another country and here cost 128 dollars? ill tell you why because the drug company owners raise the price as much as they want oh and guess what. Since the government doesn’t have control over that industry they get away with it... well actually the drug companies control almost all of the congress men thanks to their contribution to their campaigns they feel obligated to look the other way because if it wasn’t for the money that they got from the drug companies they wouldn’t be in power...
I think they shouldn’t allow those people campaigning to receive any contributions because its like they are going to be working for those people that gave them the money and not for the country.. -------------------- |

Those countries who charge 5cents for their drugs, how many cancer treatments have they worked on? how many medical breakthroughs has Mexico made in brain surgery?
Those companies who charge so much do so to repay R&D costs they spend to make the drugs int he first place. That money dries up and so does stem cell research, mapping protein chains, and any understanding we have on fighting killers such as AIDS and Cancer. -------------------- |

So then either way its a shitstorm. I mean with socialized healthcare, the research dries up is what bb is saying, so the drugs quality sucks anyhow. And with capitalistic healthcare, drugs are more expensive, and the health care companies don't even give a fuck anyhow about the people, so they don't get the quality that medicine deserves. Do we have a 3rd opinion SEPARATE FROM THESE TWO IDEAS?! |

Well this post is a little late on the topic, but your never going to find out the truth as to what really goes on. Michael Moore will do what it takes to bash george bush even if it has nothing to do with him, and the easiest way is the healthcare network. It's two opposite ends and no middle ground. As for what kittie said I'm gonna have to agree. "You get what you pay for", and this happens to be one of those things this quote applies to. So sure they can go to the doctor for free, but did you see any poor people being interviewed?? I sure as hell didn't. Just another thing to get america all hyped up.

Bush has plenty to do with health care. For one, he's the president, that automatically makes him king shit of it. But to be more specific of why Sicko mentions him, you should read up on "No Child Left Behind." You get a good dose of why Moore did what he did, and why he does what he does. Worse than someone telling me what to do, is someone trampling me. And thats what Bush does on a daily basis many times over per instance. Patriot Act.... Give me a break.. thats a blatant trampling of my constitutional rights. I dare people to ridicule me for saying that with shit like, "What are you a afraid of?" This has nothing to do with fear of anything. I'm a constitutionally protected private citizen, who has no right to be spied on for any reason. Search and seizure laws are 200+ years old and have always worked. The attacks on 9-11 were not perpetrated by Americans for fuck sake. So there is no reason for this kind of thing. And also, about the part Kitties said in regards to a healthy adult. You have any idea how much premiums can cost even a healthy American adult? It can be hundreds of dollars per month OF SERVICES THEY DON'T EVEN USE! I mean you get breaks in your car insurance, why the hell not your health care? W/ social health care, that guy will no longer have to pay hundreds of dollars a month, he will have a flat fee that doesn't get hiked up on him even when he's healthy, and especially when he's unhealthy. Even the rich get hammered with hardcore medical bills. Millionaires can go to the poor house because of serious cancer. Safety nets for all... not just the poorer Americans. ~Brian |

I don't know it's gotten to the point, that the only person you can trust is the people in your clan. You have a good point, but he can't be responsible for all of america's problems he just made it worse.
