Faeth laid her head gently on the shore of the lake, tilting it ever so slightly so that she peered up at Korai with one luminous blue eye.
"You scores are looking better every day, love," Korai said as she gently started to clean the area. "How does your eye feel? No troubles?"
No troubles. I can see fine and it doesn't hurt anymore.
"Good. You'll be ready to fly against Thread again as soon as it falls."
The green shifted in the water, sending waves lapping against the shore gently. Korai felt her dragon's nerves and sent a wave of reassurance to her. They would have to fly again. That's what dragonriders and dragons did. She understood Faeth being nervous but there was nothing for it. It was their duty.
"You won't get scored this time," she promised, gently pouring some water over the healing scores. "We'll be more alert, more careful. Don't worry, just trust me. You trust me don't you, love?"
Of course.
"That's my girl." She patted Faeth's eyeridge. "Now, go get the rest of this sweetsand off. There's a lot more for me to wash."
